unexpected softupdate inconsistency
Hi there, System is FreeBSD 4.9 Stable Had a problem during a portupgrade that when portupgrade did some cleaning a directory could not be deleted because it were not empty. However, it was empty. rm -rf didn't help either. Because I didn't know what to do I decided to boot. At system startup fsck was started which produced the message: unexpected softupdate inconsistency and also that

lynx only shows : FRAME: wlmframe
Hello, when I log in through ssh to a remote site and open the web interface from a ( new ) printer using Lynx, it only displays : FRAME: wlmframe I suspect this is some unfriendly coding, that will cost me time in opening Firefox instead of Lynx or w3m. Does anybody know of a way around this? Greetings, Johan -- Johan Vermeulen IT-medewerker Caw De Kempen johan.vermeulen at

openssh-3.4p1.tar.gz on ftp.openbsd.org changing rather than frozen
I have seen that file ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/OpenSSH/portable/openssh-3.4p1.tar.gz is continuosly changing. This seems strange to me as I expected it should be a 'frozen' file; The signature and diff file are still dated Jun 26. I am wondering whether this is intentional. Best regards, Wojtek

[OT] Online music database
(Already noting the posts that say this is not available) Are you willing to deal with "non authoritative" answers in your query? If so, you can write some scripts that talk CGI to a commercial music vendor. I use a (no longer available) MP3 tagger called "MP3 Internet Renamer". It would go out and request a web page from the "All Music Guide" (

rails on emacs - need a working .emacs sample
I would like to hear from some one who has ecb, multiple modes with ruby mode + html mode, rails mode all working together and playing well. I had ecb working with Ruby syntax highlighting. That was a no-brainer since I just had to apt-get them on my Debian Sarge box. It got a bit more comlex after I got most of the .el files in the articles http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/emacs/RubyOnRails

tables with Unicode box drawing characters?
Hello, I read David Wheeler's table proposal[1] for Markdown and very much agree with his conclusion and PostgreSQL-inspired proposed format. I also read the mailing list archives for 2009 but did not find any clear concesus on whether DW's format was officially accepted (I hope it is soon!). However, I want to ask: has anyone considered taking these simple ASCII table drawings to the

Dovecot and Postfix Authentication
I am a student and am trying to get a mail server setup for a project. I have all of the Postfix configuration taken care of, but I am confused by the way that authentication works with Dovecot in the mix. As a user of the system, am I supposed to authenticate myself to Postfix, Dovecot, both individually, or both together? My Postfix users are stored in a PostgreSQL database, should Dovecot also

Minimum CPU required for 60 calls
I am interested in how much CPU and RAM asterisk requires for call handling. 1. What is the minimum CPU required for asterisk to manage 60 concurrent calls without transcoding. 2. Handle calls on a 75% no transcoding, 25% transcoding 3. How many calls can it connect per second ie from one VoIP -> VoIP? All the above refer to a VoIP setting. 4. Is there a difference between bridging and
