using libparanoia
Hi there, I was looking for stack smashing protection under freebsd, so i found libparanoia (/usr/ports/security/libparanoia), i had only one question using the normal 'make install' (so no copy-to-libc). If i add in /ert/make.conf: CFLAGS= -O -pipe -lparanoia -L/usr/local/lib COPTFLAGS= -O -pipe -lparanoia -L/usr/local/lib Will EVERYTHING build from that time (including

FW: opiekey segfault ... isn't that harmfull? it's setuid root
Hi, I dunno much about exploiting, but I was wondering about the setuid root program 'opiepasswd' to use one-time-passwords. When having a seed of (null) and a sequence of -1, I get a segfault. When I run the following code, R 2.5.1 and R 2.6.0 crashes. It's been tested on at least 2 windows machine and it is consistent. Execution code it's self was coped from the help file of imp.mix. Only thing I supplied was a fake dataset.

ProPolice/SSP in 7.0
Hi there, I'm still running 6.2 on various servers without any tweaks (GENERIC kernel, binary updates via freebsd-update etc.) but lots of ports (apache, postgresql, diablo-jdk etc.) and would like to use stack smashing protection in order to harden my boxes and avoid many potential exploits. I've known about ProPolice/SSP for a while now (from the Gentoo world) and am aware that

Approaching the limit on PV entries, consider increasing either the vm.pmap.shpgperproc or the vm.pmap.pv_entry_max sysctl.

Command line not responding
Running 9.0-Stable on an i386. Whenever I type a command at the prompt I get the output /usr/local/lib/libintl.so.9: Undefined symbol "_ThreadRuneLocale" and nothing else - the command will not run. Just the above output. Commands like "ls" and "exit" work, but not much else. This happends whether I am logged in a user or as root. Cannot even halt the system from

PAM-Winbind authentication working but can't use domain groups
I have successfully set up samba 3.0, PAM, Winbind and joined my samba server to a windows 2000 domain. I can log into my linux box as a domain user and that all works fine. I am having trouble trying to figure out how to set up access to a samba share based on an Active Directory group. Here is my smb.conf file: [global] winbind separator = ` idmap uid = 10000-20000 winbind gid = 10000-20000
