Playing with ReadFileScatter()
Hi all, Looking at the IO.readlines source in io.c, it looks to me like they grab 8k chunks, split on the input record separator, and buffer accordingly. Since it looks like ReadFileScatter() does some of that work automatically (in page file sized chunks), I thought I''d give it a try. Here''s what I''ve got, but it doesn''t work. I have an incorrect parameter

Problems completely reading in a "large" sized data set
I have been through the help file archives a number of times, and still cannot figure out what is wrong. I have a tab-delimited text file. 76Mb, so while it's large.. it's not -that- large. I'm running Win7 x64 w/4G RAM and R 2.10.1 When I open this data in Excel, i have 27 rows and 450932 rows, excluding the first row containing variable names. I am trying to get this into R as a

Windows permissions
I think I'm fairly good with Linux (since 1991) but mostly clueless with Windows. When I need Windows help, the Web has been my savior. But not this time... I have three Windows 10 boxes which I can successfully access using xfreerdp so I presume I know the available users and passwords. However, trying to access with winexe is proving difficult. 1. The command, <winexe -U winuser

svn problems
I can consistently segfault the 0.10.4 gem, so I''m trying to get the subversion version working with hopes towards tracking the problem down. I have a fresh SVN checkout but: a) the version (in ferret.rb) claims to be 0.9.6; and b) Ferret::Index::FieldInfos and a couple other classes are missing at run time. It looks like this is because they''re not exported in the C

libshout API change needed?
(I think this may have come up before and then gotten dropped.) libshout may need two additional API methods: libshout_init and libshout_shutdown. libshout itself currently has no use for these functions, but they would be used to call the init and shutdown hooks in the net library. When this library is built with thread support, it uses these hooks to create and destroy a library-wide mutex.

Then I signed it and configured in nodes.pp the same pool and irule as suggested in the tutorial. BUT when I run on the proxy: # puppet device --deviceconf

Oracle 9.2.0.6 on Solaris 10
How can I tell if this is normal behaviour? Oracle imports are horribly slow, an order of magnitude slower than on the same hardware with a slower disk array and Solaris 9. What I can look for to see where the problem lies? The server is 99% idle right now, with one database running. Each sample is about 5 seconds. I''ve tried setting kernel parameters despite the docs saying that
