Problem SSHing to HP ILO SSH-2.0-mpSSH_0.1.0 with 5.8p1
Hi everyone,
We are recently seeing a problem with OpenSSH 5.8p1 and SSH to ILO cards
running SSH-2.0-mpSSH_0.1.0.
This has previously worked with OpenSSH 5.5p1 (last known version for us
to work).
ssh ilohost -vvv gives the following on 5.8p1:
debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config
debug1: Applying options for *
debug1: Applying options for *.*
debug2: ssh_connect: needpriv 0

Time zone for chrooted internal-sftp?
Hi,
A question regarding chroot, internal-sftp, and time zones: Is it possible to get the time stamps presented by the chrooted internal-sftp to always be aligned with the system global time zone setting?
What is the reason this not done by default, that is couldn't the chrooted internal-sftp inherit the time zone information from the SSH daemon?

negative predicted values in poisson glm
Dear R helpers,
running the following code of a glm model of the family poisson, gives
predicted values < 0. Why?
library(MASS)
library(stats)
library(mvtnorm)
library(pscl)
data(bioChemists)
poisson_glm <- glm(art ~ fem + mar + kid5 + phd + ment, data = bioChemists,
family = poisson)
predicted.values = predict(poisson_glm)
range(predicted.values)
Thank you in advance for any hints.

Security implications of using ControlMaster
Dear Mailing List
We are using a ControlMaster with a short ControlPersist to access the
bastion host which then gives access to customer hosts.
Our Information Security Manager would like to disallow the
ControlMaster. His attack scenario is an admin workstation with a
compromised root account. An attacker can then use the ControlMaster to
trivially get shell access on the bastion host

How go back from X.Y-RELEASE-pZ to X.Y-RELEASE?
We are currently using cvs for both source and ports.
I have begun changing to portsnap for ports, and I
would also like to try changing at least some of our
servers to freebsd-update.
But all servers have been patched, using either RELENG_8_3
or RELENG_9_0 as cvs tag. I need to revert them to their
respective RELEASE to be able to use freebsd-update.
Complete reinstall from eg CD is not an

ControlMaster, scp and current working directory
Hi,
It seems there is a problem regarding ControlMaster and scp'ing a file
depending on the current working directory:

lost connection
$ scp -o ControlMaster=no cox.jpg host.local:

ControlPath versus ProxyCommand
TL;DR: I expect ProxyCommand to have effect in preference to ControlPath.
I've just tripped over this one. I have an ssh Host (let us call it "MAIN")
with a ControlPath and with ControlMaster=no, from the .ssh/config file.
I also have a shell script whose purpose is to hop to a remote host through a
port forward, which uses the ProxyCommand option like this:
ProxyCommand ssh

Grep: show me this line and the next N lines?
Can grep show the matching lines and the next N lines after a match?
For instance, I have a config file wit hthe following text:
[Tag h1]
foreground=#2e5a03
underline=double
indent=0
weight=PANGO_WEIGHT_BOLD
scale=2.25
I would ideally grep on "[Tag h1]" and have grep display the match and
the next 5 lines so that I see all the content of the h1 section.
Can this be done?
Thanks!

How to switch off accepting the shortcut of column names
Dear R-users,
currently I am working with the R version 2.4.1.
I realized it has a feature, which might be wonderful (as so many things in
R), but in this case might be a bit dangerous as well. It seems that columns
of a data frame can be called just by indicating the first letter of the
name of the column.
For example:
first_item <- seq(1,10)
second_item <- seq(11,20)

Usability issue when forced to change password when logging in to a system
John Olsson M wrote:

I think there's a good case to be made for OpenSSH to not provide any
instructions at all unless it is in charge of the dialog itself.
Have you checked that the current instructions are actually output by
OpenSSH? The string seems to be in openbsd-compat/bsd-cray.c inside

Which effects are 3D and which are 2D?
AMD is dropping support for the R300-R500 cards in their official drivers:
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=amd_r500_legacy&num=1
As the current open source drivers do not support 3D, I'd like to know
which Compiz effects use 3D and which use 2D. Thanks.

large files
I'm reposting this problem (perhaps a bug) now I've got more information on
it. This is another point of view of the situation and I hope someone could
have run into the same trouble before (and solved it :-))
This is it:
* with ntbackup 2000 I create a 22Gb .bkf file in the windows machine.
* I can copy that file over a samba share and get correct info form the
file in windows
