Serial ports not available to apps nor in regedit
I've already read through bug 11811 (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11811) so I know a patch was offered about two years ago for Wine automatically recognizing the com* symlinks in ~/.wine/dosdevices. Is there any hope that this will be functional soon? I am trying a utility that needs to access the serial ports but there are none shown available in its ports dialog. I do have

Reading from serial port
Hello, I've got RFID card reader plugged in serial port. cat /dev/ttyS0 ...gives me ID of the card I'm using => that's OK As soon as I open the port with win32 appication via wine... I get no data from reader. Even cat /dev/ttyS0 does not work anymore afterwards. I thinks it's because as soon as application opens it via wine some tty flags change: (PS: Of course I created

Will Xen support PCI add-on card for serial ports?
hi, It looks that Xen currently only support ISA serial port, which is onboard. Is there any plan to support the PCI serial port? Thanks, Neo -- I would remember that if researchers were not ambitious probably today we haven''t the technology we are using! _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com

Add serial number to Win Apps so they run?
I have a few applications that start but fail due to missing "personalization" in other words the software license key can't be found. In all other respects Photoshop 7 appears to want to run ok. So the question is how to I "install" the license key so it can run under Wine? Normally I guess that is installed in the Windows Registry file which Wine does not access.

PCI serial card works on 6.2 but not on 6.3
We have upgraded a box from 6.2 to 6.3-RELEASE. Afterwards the box does not recognize its ST Lab I-160 serial card with Netmos 9845 Chipset. It worked flawlessly on 6.2 with puc(4) driver. >From dmesg: pci1: <simple comms, UART> at device 8.0 (no driver attached) ~# pciconf -l -v | grep -B 4 UART none2@pci1:8:0: class=0x070002 card=0x00041000 chip=0x98459710 rev=0x01 hdr=0x00

Samba server authenticating to NDS with win 2000 clients?
Is this possible? I searched the archives and did some digging and it seemed like the closest I was going to get was to use pam modules. But, from what I read, that won't work with 2000 or XP because of password encryption. I'd like for my users to be able to map drives to my linux box running samba using their NDS username/passwords, yet I don't want to re-create all of those

MS DOS client : solution
Hello, I finally found a solution to allow basic MS DOS client 3.0 redirector to work with Samba. I'm sure you'll find it ugly, but it works. Under CORE protocol, the $"#&^ MS client sends unencrypted passwords to the samba server (maybe there is no support of encryption in CORE, I don't know). So as my clients are either W95, WfW, NT or DOS machines, I simply remove the

Linux can't telnet to WFW 3.11
My server is RH 5.2 and i use Samba 1.9.18p10 and the client use WFW 3.11 with tcp/ip protocols installed. The subnet and the IP Address is right but I still only telnet form WFW 3.11 to Linux...not the reverse. On Linux telnet is working. I've checked it through this cmdline "telnet localhost 23 or telnet 127.0.0.1" . And I also testparm smb.conf and nothing wrong happen. FYI I set

What shares are mounted on client ?
Is there anyway to ascertain what shares a client actually has mounted at a given time? I've got a number of WFW boxes connecting shared drives on my SCO-OSE3 box using SAMBA 1.9.16p5 (upgrading to latest version RSN). I've got some shell scripts on the Unix box which use escape sequences sent to the client telnet to start programs on the client side. Some of these programs assume

diskless windows
Hi. I wanted to set diskless win95 but I read the list archives and I decided not to do it diskless. So I tried diskless windows but I got a problem. I do this. 1.- I did booting images with bootware proms. 2.- I managed to install DOS clients from microsoft. That was painfull because the one I downloaded from MS didn't connected to my samba server. I used a dos clients that creates a NT

cygwin rsync performance and bandwidth between two w2003 servers
I have two Windows 2003 Standard Edition Server with 2x 3,0 GHz P4 and 4 GB RAM. On each server rsync runs as cygwin daemon (rsync version 2.6.6; protocol version 29). The two servers are connected through a 2 MBit VPN link. When I sync a single large file or a whole directory, rsync only uses 50% of the available bandwidth. When I do the same between windows and linux server, rsync takes the

my printers are still paused in Win2k and WinNT 4.0
Hello, It seems that I am in printer hell once again :) I am trying to sort out some printer problems with our UNIX server. The basic problem is this. I have a test server to K.I.S.S the problem. On this server I have defined two queues which are csqlis and HPfinley. csqlis seems to work correctly and displays ready. HPfinley always reads Paused on win2k and NT40 clients. The output of the lpq

Another Shot At It
After receiving no response to yesterday's message, I tried some more web scouring and more tinkering and dinking around with Samba...and I discovered what may be a major key to my problem... I have 3 PC's...2 are Windoze and 1 is Linux. Windoze machines are likely to understand how to share files across subnets using the same workgroup name...but is Samba as adept? I have a feeling

Installation for a Newbie
Okay... Here's what I'm trying to do. I have an existing NT Domain with a PDC and I have a brand new Linux Box that I want to join that domain. I found the Docs and I read the Joining an NT Domain with Samba 2 file... I used SAMBA STATUS to ensure that the services were stopped. Then as per the docs I used: smbpasswd -j DOMAIN -r PDC And got the following... modify_trust_password:
