Fatal: setgid from userdb lookup fails with wrong gid
Hello all,
I'm quite new as well to Dovecot, just installed it on a FreeBSD system
with Postfix and Rspamd as side apps. Things are running semi-smoothly
for all users but I do have quite a few errors in the logs :

Fatal: setgid from userdb lookup fails with wrong gid
Hi,
Not sure if this is it, but I used to have the same error when I started
with dovecot.
Aki's response was the following (and solved my problem).

Hi!
You can't set
service imap {
service_count = 256
}
if you are using multiple system UIDs. See
https://wiki.dovecot.org/Services#imap.2C_pop3.2C_submission.2C_managesieve
*service_count* can be changed from 1 if only a

adding Windows Domain users to a unix group
Hi All,
Just joined the list. The postings are very helpful
for me to implementing samba for my work place.
I am running samba 3.0.1 or RED HAT 9.0.
Does anybody know how to add Windows domain users to a
linux usergroup? My PDC is running Windows 2000. I do
not have permissions to create groups on the Windows
PDC. Windbind is working fine on the Redhat machine. I
can map to the linux samba

Mail storage creation fails with virtual users
So I have recently set up dovecot with a virtual users dovecot.passdb
file, but when I attempt to telnet in, it fails because my virtual
users don't have proper permissions to create mailboxes.
I don't want to have to create actual users for each email account.
Any idea as to what to do?

Virtual Users and permission denied on POP3 Authentication - cur directory
Hi,
I've been working on configuring a new Postfix+Dovecot+Cyrus-SASL
+Postgres server to perform multi-domain virtual hosting with non-unix
accounts. I believe I have everything working correctly and have
tested both the SASL portion and POP authentication through telnet and
all works as expected, with one exception.
When I authenticate using POP3:
# telnet mail.host 110

Plugin mail-filter tangles
System installed : Dovecot 2.2.12 as IMAP server and Postfix as MTA.
Dovecot and Postfix connected via LMTP
+ Dovecot mail plugin 'mail-filter' to encrypt/decrypt emails on the fly
with public/private users' RSA keys.
Case study :
You have 3 (virtuals) users belonging to 3 different domains, all
managed by your Dovecot server.
One of these users is connected to Dovecot with MUA

I have a client with a linux server with samba installed and I've created

Samba domain users AWOL from Samba file server.
Unfortunately, the the Ubuntu 18.04 samba-tool package doesn't have "user
show" as an option. The Windows ADUC tool shows user1 uidNumber =10001,
user2 uidNumber=10002, user3 uidNumber =10003, and user4 uidNumber=10004
Here are the getent command results on the file server/ domain member:

Issues with remote call setup
Hello list,
I would like to seek your expert opinion on a setup I am trying as part of my research. I have not been able to successfully make a call so far.
In my setup, I use two laptops that are interconnected by means of a stand-alone IS1581 switch. Thus there is no LAN involved.
I have assigned static IPs to the two laptops, say 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2.
I have installed Asterisk 1.6.2.6 and
