firewall and * suggestions
Hi, I am going to set up an office of 30 employees and since it's the first time I thought I will ask for suggestions (trying to make a CentOS base office :) ). I was planning to re use an old Compaq LPr PII 450, sw mirrored scsi 10000rpm disks, 448Mb RAM, to build a CentOS based firewall and I was wondering if this hardware would be enough to serve 30 clients (I already have a centos

CentOS 6, mptfusion software?
Hi, folks, Got an older Dell R410, with an LSI 1068E PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS (rev 08). It *appears* that a) trying MegaRaid, and b) from what I'm googling, that what I need are mptfusion-related packages. Unfortunately, yum shows me nothing available in base, epel, or rpmfusion. Am I looking for the wrong thing, or does anyone have a source (no, I haven't looked at LSI, sorry

Being strict on differentiating between IEC prefixes and SI prefixes.
One of the greatest things about rails is that it is so standards-compliant, no other framework that I have seen have complied to the HTTP standard (think REST) in such a degree that Rails does. Kudos to you all for that. I think we (Rails community) should follow the line of standards compliance and also take it to the binary prefixes [1], i.e. kilobytes, megabytes, etc. For more than half a

Kernel oopses with gluster fuse on squeeze
Hi, We've been experiencing repeated (every other day) oopses on hosts with high load glusterfs accesses. Co-occurrent (not immediately tho, but there is some sort of connection) are hanging nginx processes (doing the accessing), which can not be stopped, killed and also block the shutdown of the respective openvz instance. I think I remember at least one instance where this occurred without

Centos 5.8 has no "Virtualization" install option
Hi, when I try to install Centos 5.8 on a Dell r410 then I don't get a "Virtualization" option during the package selection of the installer. Centos 5.7 does show that option fine. Is this a known issue? Regards, Dennis

[LLVMdev] Fixed-point arithmetic
Hi all, Is there any ongoing work in LLVM/Clang to support fixed-point arithmetic as described in ISO/IEC TR 18037 ? It seems that gcc has support for it since 2007 and it would be useful for us to add such support. Just to get an idea if we decide to work on this, how long would it take to get it implemented ? Regards, Ivan

Hardware performance question : Disk RPM speed & Xen Performance
Hello, I am a relatively new user of Xen virtualization, so you''ll have to forgive the simplistic nature of my question. I have a Dell R410 poweredge server (dual quad core CPUs + 32gb ram). I plan on utilizing this server with Xen. The ''dilemma'' I am having is whether or not to replace the 2x 500gb 7.2K RPM drives that came with the server with faster 300gb

Hello, I would like to know how to find out the specifications (flow chart, transforms, tables, windowing operations, bitstream formatting) used to encode/decode audio in OggVorbis format. I mean something similar to the ISO/IEC 11172-3 document for MPEG-I and the like. Regards, ---------------------------------------------------- Jaime Andrés Aranguren Cardona SanJaaC Electronics

Is there any explanation for this behaviour though? Why are BCRYPT hashes accepted when default_pass_scheme is set to SHA512-CRYPT and not vice versa? Is this

R with external BLAS fails regression test
Dear Tom, The change in the Fedora RPM from using R's internal BLAS to external BLAS means the Fedora R binary now fails one of R's regression tests, specifically: tests/reg-BLAS.R. You can run this code by hand to verify the issue. As noted in the R administration and Installation Manual, "R relies on ISO/IEC 60559 compliance of an external BLAS. This can be broken if for example
