multipath
I have inherited a system set up with multipath, which is not something I
have seen before so I could use some advice
The system is a Dell R420 with 2 LSI SAS2008 HBAs, 4 internal disks, and a
MD3200 storage array attached via SAS cables. Oh and CentOS 6
lsblk shows the following:
NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sdd 8:48 0 931.5G 0 disk

NetApp unable to join samba PDC
Hello there
I've just been trying to get a NetApp FAS2020, DataOnTap 7.2.5.1 to join
our domain. No luck so far . The PDC is samba 3.2.4 with ldap backend.
I created the account manually and when I try to join the NetApp I get
these in the samba logs.

IO size and cluster size
Hi All,
how can I determine the size of each I/O? does it depend on the cluster
size? block size? will it be different for each file system if each of
those have different cluster size?
I am just trying to understand very high I/O wait on our oracle RAC DB,
where as we dont have it on another server with similar load. if the DB
need 4K will it fetch only 4K?
on side note, I know in ZFS it pulls

Using R with Hadoop/Hive for Big Data
Hive <http://hadoop.apache.org/hive/> is a data warehouse infrastructure
built on top of Hadoop that provides tools to enable easy data
summarization, adhoc querying and analysis of large datasets data stored in
Hadoop files. It provides a mechanism to put structure on this data and it
also provides a simple query language called QL which is based on SQL and
which enables users familiar with

How to replace root drive if ZFS data is on it?
Hi, Experts:
A customer has X4500 and the boot drives mirrored (c5t0d0s0 and
c5t4d0s0) by SVM,
The ZFS uses the two other partitions on these two drives(c5t0d0s3 and
c5t4d0s3).
If we need to replace the disk drive c5t0d0, do we need to do anything
on the ZFS
(c5t0d0s3 and c5t4d0s3) first or just follow the regular boot drive
replacement procedure?
Below is the summary of their current ZFS

%dopar% parallel processing experiment
dear R experts---
I am experimenting with multicore processing, so far with pretty
disappointing results. Here is my simple example:
A <- 100000
randvalues <- abs(rnorm(A))
minfn <- function( x, i ) { log(abs(x))+x^3+i/A+randvalues[i] } ?## an
arbitrary function
ARGV <- commandArgs(trailingOnly=TRUE)
if (ARGV[1] == "do-onecore") {
?library(foreach)

Data distribution not even between vdevs
Hi list,
My zfs write performance is poor and need your help.
I create zpool with 2 raidz1. When the space is to be used up, I add 2
another raidz1 to extend the zpool.
After some days, the zpool is almost full, I remove some old data.
But now, as show below, the first 2 raidz1 vdev usage is about 78% and the
last 2 raidz1 vdev usage is about 93%.
I have line in /etc/system

Extremely slow zpool scrub performance
Running a zpool scrub on our production pool is showing a scrub rate
of about 400K/s. (When this pool was first set up we saw rates in the
MB/s range during a scrub).
Both zpool iostat and an iostat -Xn show lots of idle disk times, no
above average service times, no abnormally high busy percentages.
Load on the box is .59.

Some performance questions with ZFS/NFS/DNLC at snv_48
Hello.
We''re currently using a Sun Blade1000 (2x750MHz, 1G ram, 2x160MB/s mpt
scsi buses, skge GigE network) as a NFS backend with ZFS for
distribution of free software like Debian (cdimage.debian.org,
ftp.se.debian.org) and have run into some performance issues.
We are running SX snv_48 and have run with a raidz2 with 7x300G for a
while now, just added another 7x300G raidz2 today but
