Blacklisted packages still logged
Hello, Pardon me if this turns out to be stupid question. I have an IP address blacklisted in /etc/shorewall/blacklist. I have BLACKLIS_LOGLEVEL not set in /etc/shorewall/shorewall.conf, but I can still see the packages coming from the blacklisted IP logged in /var/log/messages when I do ''tail -f /var/log/messages''. Is there someplace else I should check ? Thanks. RDB --

interesting kvm lvm collision issue
I've been running into a reproducible problem when using default LVM volume group names to present block devices for virtual machines in KVM, and I'm wondering why it is happening. On dom0 I make a default VolGroup00 for the operating system. I make a second VolGroup01 for logical volumes that will be block devices for virtual systems. In VolGroup01, I make two lv's for one system:

Migrating from RHEL 4 to CentOS
Hello, I'm thinking about migrating from RHEL 4 to CentOS. Is there a document that provide pointer / guidance for doing that ? or is this document: http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=19 relevant enough to follow in my situation ? I understand that I should probably strip the install of any RedHat images, trademark, etc, as to not infringing any copyright. So I am

Kickstart and lvm
I've written some %pre code to grab a few files off a logical volume, if it exits, before the disk gets formatted, but can't get get it to work correctly. Essentially: %pre ... lvm vgscan lvm vgchange -a y ... if [ -d /dev/vol0 ]; then # do stuff fi lvm vgremove -f vol0 The problem is that /dev/vol0 does not exist after lvm vgchange. I added a few debug statements (lvm pvdisplay, lvm

Playlist containing both MP3 and OGG
Hello, I have both MP3 and OGG in my hard drive, since I used to use MP3 encoding and now I'm trying to move to OGG vorbis. I am wondering if there's a way to stream a playlist containing both MP3 and OGG files. As far as I understand from reading the doc, Ices-0.4 and Ices2 can only stream MP3 and OGG files respectively. So I just installed both. But is there a trick or something

shorewall doesn''t log dropped smb connection ?
Hello, This is probably nothing, and I''m just the one missing something here. But I''m just curious. I am trying to run samba in one of my machines that run shorewall. But I forgot to add the rule to allow smb connection in my /etc/shorewall/rules. Of course when I tried to access the smb share from another machine, I couldn''t. I fixed that quickly, no problem.

LVM problem after adding new (md) PV
Hello, I have a weird problem after adding new PV do LMV volume group. It seems the error comes out only during boot time. Please read the story. I have couple of 1U machines. They all have two, four or more Fujitsu-Siemens SAS 2,5" disks, which are bounded in Raid1 pairs with Linux mdadm. First pair of disks has always two arrays (md0, md1). Small md0 is used for booting and the rest - md1

mounting lvm2
CentOS 7 for everything I am probably never using lvm again. I have never not once actually benefited from its capabilities but this is probably the third or fourth time it has gotten in my way. Issue is that I use the tools so rarely that I can't recall what needs to be done to properly mount the drives on another system and finding that info on the web is becoming more difficult as the

lvm errors after replacing drive in raid 10 array
I thought I'd test replacing a failed drive in a 4 drive raid 10 array on a CentOS 5.2 box before it goes online and before a drive really fails. I 'mdadm failed, removed', powered off, replaced drive, partitioned with sfdisk -d /dev/sda | sfdisk /dev/sdb, and finally 'mdadm add'ed'. Everything seems fine until I try to create a snapshot lv.
