Surv object in data.frame
Dear All,
a Surv object I put in a data frame behaves somehow unexpected (see example).
If I do a Cox regression on the original Surv object it works. If I put it
in a data.frame and do the regression on the data frame it does not work.
Seemingly it has to do with the class attribute, because if I change the
class attribute to let "Surv" appeare first, again it works.
Is this known?

How to join data.frames containing Surv objects?
Dear All,
Trying to combine two data frames with identical structure by rbind() or
merge() I cannot find a way to preserve the class of a Surv object (see
example).
Reading the help page for rbind, I an uncertain if I could expect that a
Surf oject retains it's class, but I would wish it did.
Thanks

Surv object in data.frame and Design package
Dear All,
there seems to be some strange influence of the Design package on
data.frame. If I build a data.frame containing a Surv object without
loading the package Design, the data frame is usable to coxph. If instead I
just load Design and build a data.frame afterwards, the naming of the Surv
object is different and it does not work with coxph.
(In my real application I loaded Design to use the

Request for Comments: Upgrades from 3.x to 4.0+
We're fast approaching the time for Gluster-4.0. And we would like to
set out the expected upgrade strategy and try to polish it to be as
user friendly as possible.
We're getting this out here now, because there was quite a bit of
concern and confusion regarding the upgrades between 3.x and 4.0+.

## Background
Gluster-4.0 will bring a newer management daemon, GlusterD-2.0 (GD2),

if doing an upgrade from 3.10.1 to 4.0 or 4.1, will I be able to access
volume without any challenge?
I am asking this because 4.0 comes with DHT2?

Very short answer, yes. Your volumes will remain the same. And you
will continue to access them the same way.

[Gluster-devel] Request for Comments: Upgrades from 3.x to 4.0+
Just so I am clear the upgrade process will be as follows:
upgrade all clients to 4.0
rolling upgrade all servers to 4.0 (with GD1)
kill all GD1 daemons on all servers and run upgrade script (new clients
unable to connect at this point)
start GD2 ( necessary or does the upgrade script do this?)
I assume that once the cluster had been migrated to GD2 the glusterd
startup script will be smart

Will the various client packages (centos in my case) be able to automatically handle the upgrade vs new install decision, or will we be required to do something manually to determine that?
It?s a little unclear that things will continue without interruption because of the way you describe the change from GD1 to GD2, since it sounds like it stops GD1. Early days, obviously, but if you could

We should be able to do this with CentOS (and other RPM based distros)
which have well split glusterfs

does RIO improves folder listing and rebalance, when compared to 3.x?
if yes, do you have any performance data comparing RIO and DHT?

Wrong list.
Post on r-sig-finance instead.

GD2 to Make Charts
I''m just getting started with GD2 and have successfully made a few
dynamic PNGs. I need to make some fairly detailed line graphs on the
fly and I know that GD2 is capable of what I want but I strongly suspect
I''m reinventing the wheel badly. Are there gems or other projects that
help creating complex charts? I''ve used GDChart in the distant past

[PATCH 1/2] nouveau: make nouveau importing global buffers completely thread-safe, with tests
While I've closed off most races in a previous patch, a small race still existed
where importing then unreffing cound cause an invalid bo. Add a test for this case.
Racing sequence fixed:
- thread 1 releases bo, refcount drops to zero, blocks on acquiring nvdev->lock.
- thread 2 increases refcount to 1.
- thread 2 decreases refcount to zero, blocks on acquiring nvdev->lock.

Do I need to transform backtest returns before using pbo (probability of backtest overfitting) package functions?
[re-sending - previous email went out by accident before complete]
Hi Joe,
The centering and re-scaling is done for the purposes of his example, and
also to be consistent with his definition of the sharpe function.
In particular, note that the sharpe function has the rf (riskfree)
parameter with a default value of .03/252 i.e. an ANNUAL 3% rate converted
to a DAILY rate, expressed in decimal.
