Setting bioconductor repository in .Rprofile. Is there a permanent way?
I currently set the Bioconductor repository in my .Rprofile using this
code (which needs editing for every version number change of
Bioconductor):
# Choose repositories
repos <- structure(c(CRAN="http://streaming.stat.iastate.edu/CRAN",
CRANextra="http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/RWin",

Rprofile.site under Windows 7?
Hello All:
I'm still unable to get Rprofile.site to set, e.g.,
options(max.print=222), as I did with previous versions of R.
I just found similar questions posed by Trevor Miles and Ross Bowden
with replies by Uwe Ligges and Duncan Murdoch.
In addition to the things I tried documented below, I also copied
Rprofile.site into "R_HOME/etc/i386" and

Hi all,
The following fails for me (on OS X, although I imagine it's the same
on other platforms using libcurl):

options(repos = c(CRAN = "https://cran.rstudio.com/", CRANextra =

In fact, this does reproduce on R-devel:

Hi Martin,
Indeed it does (and I should have confirmed myself with R-patched and
R-devel before posting...)
Thanks, and sorry for the noise.

Rprofile.site in R 2.15.0 on Windows?
Hello:
I have so far failed to get Rprofile.site to be processed in R
2.15.0 under Windows 7 as I remember having done it in previous version
of R. For example, I've included "options(max.print=222)" in
"R_HOME/etc/Rprofile.site" (with and without the environmental variable
R_HOME set to the install directory of R 2.15.0 in advanced system
settings): When I

install packages from intranet
Hi,
I'm new to R. Apologies if this is a simple query, I've searched the mailing lists and docs but can't find a solution to my problem.
I'm trying to make some packages available on our intranet. During development the 'intranet' is a webserver running on localhost.

Installing Packages from a Local Repository
Hi everyone,
I've followed the instructions from R-Admin Section 6.6 for creating a
local repository. I've modified my Rprofile.site file to add the local
repository to my repos, but I haven't been able to successfully install my
package from the repo.
Here's the code that I've run.

It would be wonderful if the CRAN mirror had an easy way to set a "default CRAN
mirror".
Current behavior is to have to choose a CRAN mirror the first time a package is
installed in a session. The closest mirror site is always the same for me, and
I wouldn't wish to change it unless it

R devel [and R 2.14.1 patched]: R CMD build now sources ~/.Rprofile
I'd like to follow up on this one. It may be that I have
misunderstood something, but on both R devel (2012-02-22 r58452) and R
2.14.1 patched (2012-02-18 r58394) I can't seem to avoid loading
~/.Rprofile when I run 'R CMD <cmd>', e.g. R CMD build. For me, the
loading of ~/.Rprofile by 'R CMD' started a few weeks ago, and I
haven't seen it before. More details

motivation for setRepositories and chooseCRANmirror
I have some questions and observations about these:
Will these replace manually setting options(CRAN), which doesn't work in
R-2.1.0?
In R-2.1.0, setRepositories() looks to see if options("repos") contains
a CRAN entry and will not override that CRAN entry even if the
$R_HOME/etc/repositories file (which setRepositories reads from)
contains a CRAN entry. Why is this? The user

Rprofile not executed in R 2.2.0 alpha for Windows
Dear list members (esp. Duncan),
I've run into the following curious problem with Version 2.2.0 alpha for
Windows: Options in the Profile file in R's etc directory don't appear to be
set. (I habitually uncomment options(chmhelp=TRUE), to no effect in this
case.) As far as I can see, the only thing non-standard about my
installation is that I put R 2.2.0 alpha under c:\R rather than

actually I don't know that it does -- it addresses the symptom but I think there
should be an error from libcurl on the 403 / 404 rather than from read.dcf on
error page...

When to use RProfile.site or .Rprofile
I would appreciate some advice on what the preferred contents of RProfile.site vs. .Rprofile should be. A .First() function can reside in either one, but is it preferred to place it in .Rprofile? I currently use .First() in .Rprofile files placed in separate directories used for different RStudio projects.
Thank you
