RSQLite - How to express(or save) a dataframe as an output?
Dear R helpers Suppose following is an output due to some R process. I wish to save it as a table in 'temp.db' df <- data.frame(x = c(5, 4, 3, 11), y = c(25, 16, 9, 121))     library(RSQLite)     write('** Initializing','')     drv <- dbDriver("SQLite", shared.cache = TRUE)     con <- dbConnect(drv, dbname = "temp.db",

RSQLite to input dataframe
Dear r helpers, At first, I apologize for raising a query which seems to be a stupid interpretation on my part. I am trying to learn SQLite. Following is an example given in the RSQLite.zip file (Page # 4) drv <- dbDriver("SQLite") tfile <- tempfile() con <- dbConnect(drv, dbname = tfile) data(USArrests) dbWriteTable(con, "arrests", USArrests) On the similar

How to Read a Large CSV into a Database with R
Hi, I'm working in R 2.11.1 x64 on Windows x86_64-pc-mingw32. I'm trying to insert a very large CSV file into a SQLite database. I'm pretty new to working with databases in R, so I apologize if I'm overlooking something obvious here. I'm trying to work with the American Community Survey data, which is two 1.3GB csv files. I have enough RAM to read one of them into memory,

Data type problem when extract data from SQLite to R by using RSQLite
Hi there, When I extract data from SQLite to R, the data types (or modes) of the extracted data seems to be determined by the value of the first row. Please see the following example. When I put the missing values first, the column extracted is of the mode character. > str(dbGetQuery(sql.industry, + "select pya_var from annual_data3 + order by

Changing column names
Dear R helpers Wish you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2011. I have following query. country = c("US", "France", "UK", "NewZealand", "Germany", "Austria", "Italy", "Canada") Through some other R process, the result.csv file is generated as result.csv      var1   var2  var3  var4    var5    var6   var7

Finding non-normal distributions per row of data frame?
This is my first attempt at this, so hopefully a few kind pointers can get me going in the right direction... I have a large data frame of 20+ columns and 20,000 rows. I'd like to evaluate the distribution of values in each row, to determine whether they meet the criteria of a normal distribution. I'd loop this over all the rows in the data frame, and output the summary results to a new

RODBC: data base with decimal point ","
Dear R-users, I am working with R version 2.10.1 and package RODBC Version: 1.3-2 under windows. Say I have a table "testtable" (in an Access data base) with 3 columns and 1 row that looks like this: X Y Z 0012345 42 42,1 The columns are of these types: X - character, Y - Long Integer, Z - Decimal. I use RODBC to get these data into R: > library(RODBC) >

tryCatch interferes with traceback(), debugger(), dump.frames()....
I want to use tryCatch, but tryCatch seems to obscure important things I need for debugging. For example, say I am working with an SQLite database, and have written this function: debugThisFunction <- function(dbfile) { require(RSQLite) drv <- SQLite() conn <- dbConnect(drv, dbfile) tryCatch({ dbBeginTransaction(conn) tryCatch({ for (i in 1:10) {

RODBC: forcing a special column to be read in as character
Dear R-users, I am working with R version 2.10.1 and package RODBC Version: 1.3-2 under windows. Say I have a table "testtable" (in an Access data base), which has many different columns, among them a character column "X" with "integer-like" data as "0012345". Using sqlFetch, I'd like to assure that column X is read in as a character variable. So what

Converting strings with internal delimiters into lists
Hi UserRs, I know that there has to be an easy way to do this in R (probably easy enough that once someone clues me in I'll smack myself on the forehead for not figuring it out myself), but my searches on my own have not yielded any hints. I have many fields in my dataset that participants entered as "free lists" - i.e., the field constitutes a varying number of names each

RSQLite problems
Hi, I'm experimenting with using (R)SQLite to do data management. Here are two little problems that I've encountered: 1. The presence of ',' in string values causes trouble since ',' is also the delimiter used in the SQL statement. 2. A newline '\n' line attached to the last string value of each row. Some examples: > library (RSQLite) Loading required

"\r" with RSQLite
What am I doing wrong, or is the \r that I'm getting in the example below a bug? > a <- (1:10) > b <- (LETTERS[1:10]) > df <- as.data.frame(cbind(a, b)) > > df a b 1 1 A 2 2 B 3 3 C 4 4 D 5 5 E 6 6 F 7 7 G 8 8 H 9 9 I 10 10 J > library(RSQLite) > drv <- dbDriver("SQLite") > con <- dbConnect(drv, dbname = "Test")

Dovecot and Active Directory separate domain data stores.
Hi, I've got Dovecot setup to auth my AD users fine via Winbind and I've also tried it using LDAP and can get this working also. The problem lies in the way we store our email for our virtual users in this setup. We run a flat domain for AD (lets call it newzealand.local), and then under each users account that gets email, in the E-mail field in AD, they have an email address like user1

Q about RSQLite
Happy new year, dear listers, I have a question about Rsqlite. when I fetch the data out of sqlite database, there is something like '\r\n' at the end of last column. Here is the example: Sepal_Length Sepal_Width Petal_Length Petal_Width Species 1 5.1 3.5 1.4 0.2 setosa\r\n 2 4.9 3.0 1.4 0.2 setosa\r\n 3

iproute2 custom tables and rules the CentOS way...
Hi all; I have a custom iproute2 table and a few rules to go along with it (CentOS 5) -- I have added the table to /etc/iproute2/rt_tables. if-up and friends doesn't seem to handle this real gracefully. How are those of you out there doing something similar managing this customization? I don't really want to muck with /etc/init.d/network or the if-up scripts to avoid breaking upgrades.

Compress string memCompress/Decompress
Hello, I would like to compress a long string (character vector), store the compressed string in the text field of a SQLite database (using RSQLite), and then load the text back into memory and decompress it back into the the original string. My character vector can be compressed considerably using standard gzip/bzip2 compression. In theory it should be much faster for me to compress/decompress
