mount type and ensure => present on OS X
Hello all. There is some strange thing going on with our OS X clients. We have created a package which is run via SystemStarter. What it does? It parses /etc/fstab and mounts the NFS directories mentioned there. This is needed since we want to have static mounts and the NetInfo-automounter combination does not do static mounts (even with ttl=0 set for the mount, which is supposed to do a

ssh_authorized_key always ensure absent even it's present
puppet version 0.24.8 from debian lenny-backports My class works and resource created the authorized_keys file. But puppet detect as ensure absent and added again and again my authorized_keys got fews the same key lines. I added the target => ''/home/test/.ssh/authorized_keys'', again ensure is absent. I replace the ssh_authorized_key.rb from 0.25rc1 and again ensure is

use regex to ensure multiple directories are absent or exist
Is it possible to use regex to ensure directories are deleted..... I want to be able to do something like: file { ''/var/directory[1-9]'': ensure => absent, } Would also be nice to use regex to ensure directories are present... -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. Interesting interaction between source and ensure in file definition in function...
Given the following: file { "/my/file": source => "puppet://server/path/to/some/file", ensure => absent } Puppet will copy /my/file to the host. What I was hoping was that ensure => absent would trump a source file. However, if we change the above slightly like this: file { "/my/file": source =>

Using single hiera hash for two create_resources, and mounting filesystems
I am trying to use the same hiera hash to create the mount point and mounts. (Would be nice if mount could create the mount points using 3.1.1) My plan was to define create_mount_points and use create_resources with the same hash, and just though away what I dont use.... maybe there is a better means? Here is the mount class: class fstab::mounts ( $config = undef ) { $defaults = {

Could not set file on ensure: undefined method `[]'' for nil:NilClass
Hi, I had a working puppet setup using version 0.22 until the ruby security patch bit me. I tried upgrading server and clients to 0.24.1 however my old manifests don''t seem to work anymore. When I run puppetd on the client I see lots of messages like: err: //Node[waterbuck]/yumupdater/Remotefile[/etc/cron.hourly/yumupdater]/File[/etc/cron.hourly/yumupdater]/ensure: change from absent

Darned thing is suddenly failing. We had a reboot last night, and I changed a couple of files today too, so either one could somehow be responsible. But I can''t figure out how from this crash. First I noticed that my changes weren''t updating. Then I noticed that puppet wasn''t running. Then I found that it won''t, in fact, run. /selinux contains only a

Circular RPM dependencies...
Hi. I encountered a following problem, if I state for example: package{"aspell-en": ensure => absent, } package{"aspell": ensure => absent, } I get error in logs because of dependencies. It seems that puppet uses ''yum'' for installation on CentOS and ''rpm -e'' for removal of packages, so it cannot handle this kind of dependencies:

Usability concern with overrides
I''ve been tinkering around with managing users and am concerned with the overall administrative usability of the inheritance overrides. For instance, the user games: redhat_base: user { games: ensure => present } local_site inherits redhat_base: User[games] { ensure => absent } This is fine, but imagine a few levels of nesting later with an admin that wants to ensure that a

Possible bug? Can't remove and then put back a file?
This happens to Puppet 2.7.1 (both master and client). I have a file resource that I set to ensure => absent, Puppet removed it correctly with info line that it has a duplicate entry in the filebucket. I then changed the ensure => present, the agent run gave me following error: /usr/bin/puppet:19 err: /Stage[main]/Emb/File[/opt/jetty-distribution-7.4.2.v20110526.tar.gz]/ensure: change from

Problem deleting user''s primary groups and the users themselves.
This has been a "fun" issue. Basically, I''m trying to purge (ensure => absent) useless users and groups that I don''t need. The problem that I''m having, is that I can''t seem to determine a way to make sure that the users are deleted before the groups. For example: user { games: ensure => absent } group { games: ensure => absent } Now,
