2 problems
Hi all, im testing dovecot as a replacement imap server and noticed 2
problems in 0.99.10.5.
if you use dovecot/pop on an account who's quota is fully used, dovecot will
ungracefully stop. This will only happen when the account is first
accessed by dovecot (for instance, when offering IMAP to an existing
userbase using dovecot, or when the index files have inadvertently been
deleted).

Samba, ZFS and FreeBSD 12
FreeBSD 12.0-RELEASE-p2 GENERIC amd64
samba48-4.8.7
Ever since updating from FreeBSD 11 to FreeBSD 12, I have experienced a
problem with samba. While still on FreeBSD 11, I configured a Windows
10 machine to write backups of selected directories to my FreeBSD
machine. That worked perfectly. No problems were detected and
everything was backed up correctly. However, after updating to FreeBSD

Problem with quota
Samba version 4.8.7, running on a FreeBSD 12.0-RELEASE amd64 system with a
ZFS file system.
I have a Windows 10 machine configured to do automatic backups to my FreeBSD
machine on a daily basis. Since updating FreeBSD, the following errors are
displayed when the backup begins. This is a truncated list.

Samba 4.8.9
FreeBSD 12.0-RELEASE-p3 / amd64
Since updating both FreeBSD and Samba, I have been getting the
following screen pop-ups incessantly. They are always the same except
for the time. IP 102.168.0.102 is a Win10 PRO / amd64 machine. I never
received any warnings before updating.

Dovecot as LDA with Postfix
I have been attempting to replace Procmail with Dovecot as the LDA for my
Postfix mail server, but without success. Below is a truncated output from

possible nfs issue
Hi all, we've started receiving complaints from users that seemingly use more quota than they actually have. We noticed that these users have (in some cases many) .nfs files in their mailspool. Some of our admins checked their own dirs, and noticed them there as well. This could of course be unrelated to dovecot (kernel issue, netapp issue) but maybe somehow has an idea about if dovecot could

crashes on 2.0.16
Hey all, I upgraded some servers today from Debian Lenny to Debian Squeeze, and after the upgrade I started getting dovecot crashes. I was on 2.0.13 but got these there as well, and hoped upgrading to 2.0.16 would help. It didn't. Anyone have an idea?

dovecot.log file permissions and ownership
Using FreeBSD-7.2 and Dovecot v1.2.4
what user does dovecot use to write to its log file? I have the logfile
located in the /var/log directory.
I have Postfix configured to use 'virtual' users and use dovecot for
delivery.
While dove can write to the file when accessed for POP services, when
accessed via Postfix, I get this error message:

I am experiencing a problem with dovecot as an LDA. It will not deliver
mail unless the mail directory is chmod'd to 1777. Below is an example
of the log file output.
The dovecot.log file had over a hundred entries similar to this:

reason to switch to 1.1
We've been running 1.1 on about half of our servers for about a week now.
Ive mailed before that I was pleasantly surprised by its better use of
resources. Here's a graph showing that fact. Server load in the last 10
days.

read-only dovecot-uidlist
Hi all, i just investigated a user complaint and found a read-only dovecot-uidlist. Since dovecot couldnt write it, the process failed. Users can not reach this file, so how this became readonly is beyond me. Must be something in dovecot. Maybe an older bug?
Doing a search now for more readonly uidlist files, but that'll take a few hours.

index IO patterns
Hey all, we're in the process of checking out alternatives to our index storage. We're currently storing indexes on a NetApp Metrocluster which works fine, but is very expensive. We're planning a few different setups and doing some actual performance tests on them.
Does anyone know some of the IO patterns of the indexes? For instance:
- mostly random reads or linear reads/writes?

problem with test56
Hi all, im doing some tests with the test56 release and im seeing some
problems with APPEND (may be related to something else, I just see it with
APPEND).
When I ask someone to move some emails from one mailbox to another, after
some messages (seemingly random), the client experiences a 'hang'.
When tracing the process what seems to happen is that dovecot doesnt
