Dict quota question
Hi all, I'm using Dovecot 2.1.16 and I'd like to know if the following configuration is supported: * An SQL dictionary quota * A static userdb to get uid/gid/home information * An SQL userdb to get per-user quota limit Currenlty, current quota usage are properly stored into the database but per-user limits are not found. If I replace the SQL dictionary by the maildir backend (my

Check if a message has attachments
Hi all, my question is not specific to Dovecot but to the IMAP protocol in general. I'm working on a web based software that provides a simple webmail ( http://modoboa.org/). I'm wondering what would an efficient way to detect if a message (or a group of messages) has attachments. I know it certainly consists in checking for specific MIME constructions but how to achieve that without

strange behaviour with seen/unseen messages in virtual folders.
Hi, I've a virtual folder that contains unseen messages. When I mark the message and expunge the folder, the message should disappear. This works as expected in alpine. Alpine uses the following commands: 06000010 STORE 1 +Flags (\SEEN) 06000020 EXPUNGE Using roundcube mail, the message wont disappear, when I perform the same steps. RoundCube Mails sends: flg UID STORE 445 +FLAGS

Retrieving unread message count
Timo, I'm working with a webmail client that periodically polls unread message counts for a list of folders. It currently does this by doing a LIST or LSUB and then iterating across all of the folders, running a SEARCH ALL UNSEEN, and counting the resulting UID list. Eventually I'd like to see it using RFC5819 LIST-EXTENDED, but that requires a fair bit of work. In the mean time I'm

Strange SASL issue
Hi all, I've just upgraded my server from debian 8 to debian 9 and I now encounter a strange issue. I'm using prosody (XMPP server), configured to authenticate against dovecot using SASL and a unix socket. This setup was working fine on debian 8. Now, each time I try to connect using my XMPP client, the authentication fails and I see the following error in logs: auth: Error: BUG:

When is a new mail not unseen?
I'm trying to diagnose a really strange situation where certain emails, when submitted to the mailbox by Postfix, are not considered to be unseen by Dovecot. During testing, I've shut down anything else on the server that might want to access the mailbox. I submit the email to the local postfix instance which then says it has delivered it to the mailbox: Dec 23 09:51:35 ip-10-35-194-108

UNSEEN flag issues with multiple clients
Hi all, I've been bugged by this issue for a while, and while I see that the \UNSEEN flag is specified in the RFC to be reset once *any* client connects and looks at a mailbox, I was wondering if there's a way to change the behavior so that it's tracked on a per-client basis? Or if there's even some way to turn it off so that both my iPhone mail client and my main emacs viewmail
