Wine on 64-bit Kubuntu 9.04a3 - No problem.
I just reloaded my system (had to try Ext4 <g>) and rebuilt Wine from source on the latest 64-bit Kubuntu alpha. Everything works great; the Wine devs have done a lot to make the build process painless. There were just a couple of K/ubuntu-specific 32-bit library issues that I wanted to share (in case anyone else was playing in the same sandbox) before I forget them: In the 64-bit build

[LLVMdev] -m32 gives me mixture of 32- and 64-bit code
Hi all, after reading and learning much more about GNU's configure and compile machine than I ever wanted ;-), I arrived at configuring llvm-2.2 like this: CFLAGS=-m32 CXXFLAGS=-m32 ./configure --prefix=$HOME The assembler errors are finally gone (phew!, and thanks for all the help!), but I get linker errors now: llvm[3]: Linking Release Object Library LLVMX86.o llvm[3]: Compiling

Debian64 Wine deps, big confusion
I'm trying to build 32bit Wine under Debian64. None of the tips on WineOn64Bit page help completely. I remember that on Ubuntu64 I was only missing OpenCL support when configuring the source. Now, on Debian64 I'm lacking gstreamer and GetText to addition of OpenCL. I tried putting 32bit gstreamer and GetText to /lib, /lib32, /usr/lib and /usr/lib32 instead of making soft links, but

Compiling on AMD64 with a cross-compiler
Hello. I'm still trying to get the latest (post 0.9.60) wine releases to build on my laptop; it is a SlAMD64 installation. I used to compile ok up to 0.9.60; then from 0.9.61 on it refused to compile. I tried lately to compile this way: CFLAGS="-I/test/alsa/lib32/include" \ LDFLAGS="-L/usr/lib -Wl,-rpath-link,/usr/lib -L/test/alsa/lib32/lib

Using the WINE Program with Sun's Solaris system
Hi. I was trying to use the WINE program on Sun's Solaris 10 UNIX operating system, x86-64 version. It seems I can't run many applications as they often give this error: "err:module:load_builtin_dll failed to load .so lib for builtin L"ws2_32.dll": ld.so.1: wine: fatal: libnsl.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory err:module:import_dll Loading library ws2_32.dll

Help compiling an older version of wine on 64 bit Fedora 14
I'm having problems running a windows program (nulldc 1.0.3 but that's not important) under the latest version of wine, which is up and running (in 32 bit) on my 64-bit install of Fedora 14. I'm trying to compile a version of wine 1.1.32 under a separate prefix. I'm doing this in a way that has worked for me in the past under a 32-bit environment. As I say, I've compiled the

Compiling wine on 64 bit Linux Mint Debian Edition
Hiya, I'm trying to get the 32 bit development library files so that I can compile wine on linux mint debian edition (64 bit). I've noted all the scripts and instructions, but none seem to apply to my distro. I'm kind of nooby with linux but not incompetent. The error I get is, predictably: error: Cannot build a 32-bit program, you need to install 32-bit development libraries.

WineOn64Bit
Hello to all. I have a VERY important correction to this article. To compile wine on Debian Etch amd64 (kernel 2.6.17) you'll need some changes: 1. You don't need to make the X11R6 symlinks 2. The package "ia32-libs-dev" does not longer exist, you need libc6-dev-i386 3. make and make depend have to be run with LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/lib32" I hope now it is all regards,

cross compiling (arm)
Hi. I'm trying to cross compile dovecot. My desktop machine is an AMD64 box with bells and whistles. The ARM based machine is a network attached storage box. When I run "make" always get x86_64 binaries. My OS is Gentoo, so I have been able to build using emerge a variety of other programs from source. What am I doing wrong here. (Gentoo doesn't have Dovecot for the arm) I
