error in a abline loop
Hello I have data of body length and body weight of people of different skin colors. I tried to write a code to plot body length and body weight according to the skin colors. (Thanks for Petr's advice so far.) A loop is used but an error shows up in the following code. It says: unexpected '}' in "

Filling symbols in xyplot
Hello, I am using xyplot and am happy with my graph, *except* that I cannot get the symbols to be filled. I tried using bg=c("red3","red","black","lightgrey")) in both the key and the xyplot function, that that was obviously not the answer. I would like the sybols to be filled with the same colors as the lines. Does anybody have an answer? In case

Orientation of labels on axes
http://www.nabble.com/file/p14664173/at-modality.png I created the above image with R and I have one problem left: Some of the labels of the axes do not show up, probably because there's not enough space. I use the following code to create the plot: modality <- read.table("results.table", header=TRUE, sep=",") color <-

Fitting polynomial (power greater than 2)
Hey all, first time poster here. I'm new to R and working on my first real programming and forecasting asignment. I'm using unemployment data from 1948-2012. I successfully completed part a and the linear fit for part b, but i am really struggling fitting a polynomial with a power greater than 2 to my forecast. I'll upload my R code at the bottom. Any help is very much appreciated!

problem with tick graph
Dear all, I'm having problems with the tick of my graph. I'mpcombining lines and barplot. For my I'm using the function axis combined with the function pretty to have more efficient tick, but all my tick (for example, 300 as my max tick and -100 as my min tick) are not printed on my graph. So I would like to have for the left axis the seq from 0 to 100 (with 0 and 100 printed on

Stacked plots with common x-axis and different y-axis
Is there a place that shows how to create two plots that are stacked on top of each other where they share a common x-axis scale, but have differnt y-axis scale? Say have the following data: airquality Stack plot(airquality$Day, airquality$Wind) on top of plot(airquality$Day, airquality$Temp). I am interested in stacking the two on top of each other with no seam, or plotting the two lines with

livemigrate problems
hello everybody and happy new year! I am a newbie in libvirt use, and I use it mostrly throught OpenNebula. Plot 3 lines in one graph
I'm new with R. I want to plot 3 lines in one graph. This is my data: print(x) V1 V2 V3 V41 -4800 25195.73 7415.219 7264.282 -2800 15195.73 5415.219 7264.28 I tried using matplot, but I cannot get exactly what I want. This is what I get, and this is my code: matplot(x[,1],x[,-1],type='b', xlab = "epsilon_h", ylab = "Value2", xlim=

Antialiasing plots and text on different devices
I have a question about antialiasing when R generates bitmaps. (This follows a thread on the ggplot2 mailing list.) I mostly use R on Linux, although I sometimes use it in Mac and Windows as well. On Linux, I've found that plotting shapes 15-18 via cairo results in bad-looking output. The points are not antialiased, and they are jagged and misshapen. Plots generated in Windows also aren't

Set font and size in xterm
I have a situation where gnome console does not handle vt102 escape sequences properly and therefor need to employ xterm instead. When I run xterm from a gnome terminal window I am presented with an extremely small terminal window employing an almost unreadably small font. I have attempted to set the font size using xrdb and a custom .Xresources file. I can change the colour scheme. I can

Help: Wine Joystick Problems with X-Plane, Log Attached
Unfortunately my joystick (MS Sidewinder Prec. Pro) doesn't work with my favorite flight simulator X-Plane. It used to work with old X-Plane versions, but since 7.x it doesn't work anymore. Looks like there are a few stubbed out functions that need to be called.demo MSDN seems to contain some info on them, but I'm not familiar enough with wine, dx and windows to be able to implement

convert princomp output to equation for plane?
I want to fit something like: z = b0 + b1*x + b2*y Since x, y,and z all have measurement errors attached, the proper way to do the fit is with principal components analysis, and to use the first component (called loadings in princomp output). My dumb question is: how do I convert the princomp output to equation coefficients in the format above? I guess another dumb question would be: how about

Adding reference line or plane to cloud or wireframe
All, I am wondering how one might add a reference line or plane to a cloud or wireframe plot. I have been unable to figure this out. Let's say I would like to draw a reference for some value of wt in the example below: cl <- 54.1 age <- 10:80 wt <- 25:160 sim <- expand.grid(age = age,wt = wt) sim$cl <- cl*(sim$wt/70)**0.412 * (sim$age/50)**0.152
