High level of pop3 popping causing server to become unresponsive
Hello all,
We have put Dovecot 2.1.4 on several of our production servers (CentOS, on
Dell R710, with 20GB memory, dual CPU Quad-core). We have a single instance
of Dovecot running and currently have several instances of Popa3d. When
there are significant amount of popping from 2 mailboxes that dovecot that

Hi Guys,
Can anyone help me, I'm having trouble halting caching authentication for
the PAM module.
I follow this procedure: https://wiki.dovecot.org/PasswordDatabase/PAM
I got this error

hard links on samba shares
Hello!
I'm encountering a bug with samba shares, rsync and hard links. I was trying
to investigate why on my "linksys" samba share i wouldn't get any hard link
transferred and rsyncs to it would take forever. To keep a long story short,
here's the output of the command, which should be pretty explanatory :-)
mount says that:

popa3d migration
Hello,
I'm sure there is no good answer to my question, but it doesn't take
much to ask, so I will.
I am about to migrate my current Dovecot IMAP + Popa3d mailbox server
to Maildir.
I need to keep both protocols (IMAP and POP3) and will be switching to
Dovecot on both.
The question is simple - is there any way to keep POP3 UIDs through
migration, so people won't get duplicates

migrating from specialized qpopper
I'm hoping to migrate to dovecot from qpopper, with the eventual goal of
enabling IMAP. However, my qpopper installation is fairly specialized,
so I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone could get me headed down the
best path.
Here's the situation.
I'm running FreeBSD and have a virtual domains setup with an extremely
hacked LDA to do delivery to mailboxes within hashed

dovecot Maildir issue
I'm working on switching a domain from a Cyrus+postfix+procmail to
Dovecot+postfix+procmail (using Maildir). It works great, except one
small problem.
I cannot figure out what the permissions for my Maildir directories
should be. Can anyone point me to a doc or just a few pointers on
what the permissions of the Maildirs should be? The only way I seem to
be able to make this config work is to

Lost %d variable
I'm trying to set up sieve with dovecot, and for some reason, sieve is not
getting the %d variable that is part of the path to where its script should
be.
Here's the version:
ops:/var/log/mail# dovecot --version
1.2.13
And, here's the configuration (I've left it all for reference, but moved the
lda & plugins portions together and marked them out):

Bug#363336: logcheck-database: incomplete regexp for popa3d log message
Package: logcheck-database
Version: 1.2.43a
Severity: normal

Hi,
Given the following popa3d log messages:

popa3d[15993]: 1 message (3837 bytes) loaded
popa3d[15856]: 3 messages (18116 bytes) loaded
The current logcheck ruleset does not take into account that sometimes there might be multiple message_S_ to be loaded. The following patch

Public Folders

substituting level for NA in factor column
Greetings
I have a bunch of NAs in a column of categorical variables designating
the size classes (e.g., smallest to largest: 1,2,3,4) of cave crickets.
I'd like to substitute "U" (for unknown) for the NAs. Can anyone give me
an idea how to do this? Thanks in advance.
Cheers

unloading compiled code.
I have a package that I'm developing that I need to unload the
library. Long story short I figured out that the leaving the compiled
code loaded lead to a segmentation fault, but unloading the code will
fix it. I've read the documentation and it appears that there are
several ways to do this? What is the popper accepted current standard
for unloading compiled code?
The options as I

How do I do this in R? Checking the Cran site produces a bewildering array
of packages that I can't seem to find to load. Surely the main program has
this function?

Deletion of mail from Junk mailbox
I have a pigeon sive running which directs some of my received mail to the Junk folder. That works just fine. However, a couple minutes later, it is moved to Deleted mailbox and deleted from Junk. At first I thought my client was doing that so I shut down the client and it still happens. Here are the log entries:

dovecot and pop3
Dear dovecotters:
I'm becoming interested in dovecot as a replacement for UW-IMAPD. Any
project that claims it's the "postfix of ____ servers" deserves a looksee.
If indeed I were to going to switch at some point, I'd need to replace
the UW POP3 server (which is a part of the UW package). I would prefer
one that actually used the dovecot IMAP server instead of going to

Months in alphabetical order rather than chronological order in graph
Greetings
Though I have months in chronological order in my data table, the data
were sampled every other month (i.e., February, April, June, August,
October, December), every time I try to plot them (on the x-axis) they are
plotted in alphabetical order. What am I missing?
Cheers

Per-user "Seen" flags on public folder
Dear all,
sorry to bother the list again, I have a small configuration issue again with public (shared) folders.
These folders should have per-user Seen flags, so I configured:
namespace {
type = public
separator = .
prefix = public.
location = maildir:/var/mail/public:INDEX=%u/public
subscriptions = no
list = children
}
But this only seems to work with my account (presumably as I
