CVE-2012-1182 patches
Hi,
We are using Samba 3.4.2 on Oracle Solaris 10 UNIX server. I am looking at
the samba site for patches for the CVE-2012-1182 vulnerability, but the
closest patch versions I see are for samba 3.4.15 & 3.4.16.
Is there a specific patch to fix samba 3.4.2?
Also, since we are patching, is there a cluster of patches available
specifically for samba 3.4.2?
Can you please point me to the links

Can't authenticate any more, KVNO mismatch? (alpha 17-19)
Hi all,
we've been running a Samba4 domain with alpha17 for a few months now
without any problems. However, a few days ago, something happened and
now winbind can't authenticate against the domain any more. Strangely,
logging into (at least one) Windows box still works, even with a user
that was never used on this particular box before, and therefore can't
have any cached

samba 4 alpha 19 cannot join existing AD
Hi,
My apologies if this is a FAQ that I missed. This is my first attempt
at setting up samba4. Following the howto instructions:
kinit administrator seems to work fine.
samba is latest git (alpha19).
however the join fails (as below):
[root at ads bin]# ./samba-tool domain join tribalnova.local DC
-Uadministrator --realm=tribalnova.local -d4

trust relationship with SAMBA 3.0 alpha19
Hi,
I'm using SAMBA 3.0 alpha19 to try the trust relationship between an NT 4.0
domain and the samba domain. The command I used was "net rpc trusdom", but
it did'nt work, also the other "net" commands worked bad ( Segmentation
Fault or return -1 ecc.). Could you kindly to tell me how to do to set the
trust relationship with the SAMBA 3.0, or if there is any docs for

smbclient & server list
I'm using smbclient to obtain server list for particular workgroup/domain.
Let say 'testserv1' is master browser for domain 'TEST', so command is:
smbclient -L testserv1 -U%
It works fine with Samba 2.2.3a:
Sharename Type Comment

Error returning browse list: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.)

Samba 3 alpha19 - some testing results and problems
1. First of all, source/include/includes.h file contains wrong refence to file
popt.h. In supposed to be "popt/popt.h" instead of "popt.h".
After this correction source compiles OK.
2.After the installation on new alpha19 (I used alpha17 before) swat stopped
authenticating (I use same credentials for Samba 2.2.5 and samba 3 swat).
3. Samba-3 shares are accessible through

Samba 4 Alpha 17 to 4.0.x update - questions concerning S3FS / NTVFS
We had used Samba 4 alpha 17 for a long time and want to update our
server now to Samba 4.0.x.
The old Samba versions was using NTVFS and Samba 4.0.x is now using S3FS
by default.
So, what is the best practice now? Should we stay on NTVFS or should we
switch to S3FS?
The global part of our smb.conf looks like this:

interfaces = eth0
netbios name = PDC

Hi
I try to compile samba-3.0-alpha19 on my Linux-Box (SuSE 8.0, Kernel

Bug CVE-2005-2797
Hi Everyone,
I am using openssh 4.0 in a product, which is affected by
CVE-2005-2797 (If DynamicForward option is activated, GatewayPorts is
also unconditionally enabled). I am trying to backport the fix for
this from 4.2 to 4.0. I have been finding the difference between 4.2
and 4.1 and the only change that looks relevant to this bug, to me is
the changes made in the file readconf.c with the

ID mapping not the same between servers - smb and nfs
We mount most of our share though samba but I a server that has the home
directory mounted though nfs. The ID mappings are not the same. The
server is joined to the domain. The domain has 2 samba4 servers and one
win2k8r2 server. The 2 servers in question are CentOS 5.9 x86_64 and
samba 3.6.19 from sernet.
Any ideas?
