inconsistency in treatment of USE.NAMES argument
Changing the vapply() behavior makes sense in principle. I analyzed
the CRAN code base using the R parser and found 143 instances of
calling vapply with USE.NAMES=FALSE. These would need to be inspected
to understand the consequences of the change.

moving onto returning a data.frame?
I've been studying some of the code and I'm still a little shakey on the
proper method for returning a data.frame from a C function (which is my
ultimate goal here). I've started some code that I've "stolen" from the
archives and I'm running into crashes, etc. I've been trying to gleen some
insight from the src/main/scan.c file and didn't find many comments in

You should set CFLAGS instead (or as well).

Balloon driver and oom-killer
Hi,
I''m working on the following topic from the xen roadmap as a part of an
academic project: "Improve interaction between balloon driver and page
allocator to avoid memory crunch."
I have a few doubts regarding what exactly needs to be done:
1. Should the working of the balloon driver be same as in the case of
VMware ESX balloon driver? (

How to determine 64 vs 32 bit processor
I have been tied up with other work and Holidays. Now back to some
server work that is long overdue. I lost an old server yesterday so it
is crunch time.
I believe my new platform is suppose to be an x86_64. The order form
says 64 bit.
I booted Centos 6.3 i386 liveCD to check the system out before an install.
uname -i
reports i386
dmidecode -t processor

Missing /usr/share/perl5 in C7
I'm under a bit of a crunch here, so any immediate help would be
appreciated. We kickstart our customer boxes and have started migrating
to CentOS 7. We're running Radiator 4.6 1 (I know, but bear with me)
and we just deployed our first radius box to a customer to be turned up
today. (I know, I know. I had no idea it wasn't being tested sooner than
this.)

Thank you for reading this, sorry to waste bandwidth otherwise.
I am part of a US company looking for someone to setup a demo IVR system for us. I seem unable with my current knowledge to pull this off myself. The demo is the regular enter your id and validate/repeat/continue methodoligy you put up with in everyday life. I would like to have the validation and other parts done via database

Winelib 64 bits native support?
One of our projects currently uses Winelib as a way to build a native
Linux executable from the same codebase as the Windows version of our
software (we're gradually phasing out Windows API code and using
wrappers, but it's legacy, even pre-dot com bubble, code so it's a
long-term project). We're currently in the process of porting this
software to 64 bits architectures so that it

more: Have install diskette for 3.0, but can't find the .img for 4.0
I have found something called: diskboot.img
at: http://www.gtlib.gatech.edu/pub/centos/4/os/i386/images/
But it is 6Mb large (6411Kb) instead of 1411Kb
And the rawreadwrirewin program gets an error on it when run on NT. On
Win2000, it makes a diskette that fails to boot..
So really, HELP!!!!
I 'just' discovered that my old bootable diskette is for Centos 3.0, and my

http://www.centos.org/docs
Hi,
Why does http://www.centos.org/docs not point to say this for example:
http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/index.html
The latter is more comprehensive. The links that
http://www.centos.org/docs contains all have "upstream" labels on the
reading material, so I'm guessing the trademark boundries are not being
crossed.

dbox vs. mdbox
What are the pros and cons of both? Especially in regards to performance, stability, management & maintenance?
I really appreciate feedback. We're on a time-crunch to migrate from a debian 5 box w/ dovecot 1.1 to a debian 6 box w/ dovecot 2.0.9 (built from source).
Thanks,

Unusual separators
Hi all,
I have a list that I got from a web page that I would like to crunch.
Unfortunately, the list has some unusual separators in it. I believe
the columns are separated by 1 space and 1 tab. I tried to insert
this into the read.table( ..., sep=" \t", ...) but got an error that
said something like 'only one byte separators can be used.
I have thought about using a gsub to

theora and videopress
Hi all,
In order that theora is the default, there is need for more
and more tools and sites to support it. In that area I came across
videopress in my web wanderings.
http://videopress.com/ which is supposed to be a 'complete video
solution' for putting on the web.
I also saw that videopress has a plugin
