[3.3 beta3] When should the self-heal daemon be triggered?
Hi, I eventually installed three Debian unstable machines, so I could install the GlusterFS 3.3 beta3. I have a question about the self-heal daemon. I'm trying to get a volume which is replicated, with two bricks. I started up the volume, wrote some data, then killed one machine, and then wrote more data to a few folders from the client machine. Then I restarted the second brick server.

vcpupin vs taskset performance difference
Hi all, I am trying to run some performance tests using libvirt 1.2.17. For these tests it is necessary to set a specific affinity for the VCPUs of a running VM. The problem is, that I noticed a significant performance drop in my metrics when using 'vcpupin' from the virsh console instead of running 'taskset' natively. Specifically the methods I am comparing are 1.

Domain vCPU threads affinity
Hello, According to the docs, vcpupin will use either cgroups or sched_setaffinity to pin vcpu threads to cpus. How is this decision made? I observe differences even on different hosts featuring the same version of libvirtd (1.3.1): on one host vcpupin affects cpuset.cpus (cgroup), and on the other it affects vcpu threads affinity (observed through taskset). Thanks, Nikos -------------- next

ESX(i) implemented functions
Dear All, I would like to know what functions and classes are implemented in the ESX(i) driver ? i am trying to use virsh to retrieve some simple information such as vcpuinfo domain, but it is not working, so I would like to know what functions are implemented in libvirt ESX(i) driver. Also i checked the http://libvirt.org/drvesx.html and nothing is mentioned there. Thank You, Regards, Sherif

getting CPU usage through virsh command or libvirt API
Hi,        Is it possible to get the CPU usage of a guest through a virsh command? I have tried almost all the commands (vcpuinfo, cpu-stats, etc.) that gets the details of a guest cpu, but it only returns the cpu time. Is there any command that returns the cpu usage (just like the graph that virt-manager displays) of a guest? Or do I have to create a program using libvirt API? Thanks in

[PATCH v2 0/5] xl: allow for node-wise specification of vcpu pinning
Hi all, This is the second take of a patch that I submitted some time ago for allowing specifying vcpu pinning taking NUMA nodes into account. IOW, something like this: * "nodes:0-3": all pCPUs of nodes 0,1,2,3;  * "nodes:0-3,^node:2": all pCPUS of nodes 0,1,3;  * "1,nodes:1-2,^6": pCPU 1 plus all pCPUs of nodes 1,2    but not pCPU 6; v1 was a single patch, this is

About the change of a VM's vcpu count in runtime?
Hi, We know that there is a command "setvcpus" in virsh used to "change number of virtual CPUs", now we just have the need to change vcpu count dynamically for a running VM, so I tried this command (the vcpu count is 2 in the VM xml file), below is the result: virsh # setvcpus 3 --count 4 error: invalid argument: requested vcpus is greater than max allowable vcpus for the

using more than 1 core by a virtual machine
My virtual machine xml file has <vcpu>2</vcpu> clause while the host has 2 physical cpus (cores). Is this enough to cause a VM running 2 endless loop threads to use the 2 cores ? In my case the VM running reports (cat /roc/cpuinfo) that it has 2 vcpus but it uses only 1 core (at a time) because the 'top' at the host shows 100%cpu (out of total 200%) used by the

Setting CPU type for a vm
I have a Windows XP vm and would like to know how should I set its cpu so it is seen by the vm as a proper 32bit one. In its xml file, I have <os> <type arch='i686' machine='rhel6.2.0'>hvm</type> <boot dev='cdrom'/> <boot dev='hd'/> <bootmenu enable='yes'/> </os> And this is the machine I

How to insert vcpupin in guest xml file
Hi all, I am trying to add vcpupin in the guest xml file. I am working with openstack and the code I have is python bound. I investigated through the code and found that the elemets in xml file are set in get_guest_config function. Now the thing is I am not able to set vcpupin element. I mean I tried guest.cputune_vcpupin but it's not working. Help me out, please! Thanks.   ~Peeyush Gupta

Will virsh command setvcpus/vcpupin be supported by lxc driver in the future?
Dear member of libvirt team, I hope the lxc could be dynamically reconfigured, such as the number of vcpu or vcpu pinning. According to http://libvirt.org/hvsupport.html , at present, setvcpus(virDomainSetVcpus) and vcpupin (virDomainGetVcpuPinInfo) are not supported by lxc driver. I wonder if these commands will be supported by libvirt in the future? Best wishes, Cheng Wang

processor affinity
Hello, i am running CentOS 5.4. i have a requirement where i need to have 1 application have a single processor all to its self, and the rest of the system run on the other processors. "taskman" lets me bind the process to a processor(s), but it does not make it exclusive. Is this possible to do? i have even tried mucking around with the rc.sysinit, but to no avail. thank you very

Slow performance with many 3D games
Lots of 3D games such as Team Fortress 2, Audiosurf or Stalker have very low performance in comparison to running on the same computer on Windows. What can I do to improve it? What developers have still to implement to fully support 3D rendering?
