Difference between the old and the new febootstrap
Hi,
First, I'd like to thank you for your nice effort of the febootstrap tool.
I understand there are 2 major versions of this tool
the first has the syntax of "febootstrap fedora-12 ./f12" while the second
has the syntax "febootstrap --names ....."
Is it correct?
I also understand the second one is used only to create a minimal system.
is it correct too?
But what about

Building PXE Bootable images using the libguestfs toolchain
As part of the oVirt Node[1] project, I'm going to P.O.C. a version of
the node using febootstrap 2.x instead of livecd-creator. The main
reasons in doing this is for allowing a r/w root filesystem without
some hacky overlayfs and just to see if it can be done. On IRC,
rwmjones mentioned a few issues he ran into with febootstrap 2.x where
some rpms had %post scripts which aren't really

[PATCH] Correctly build febootstrap on systems without native OCaml compiler
On those systems "$(OCAMLFIND) $(OCAMLBEST)" was resolved as
"ocamlfind byte" which did not work.

febootstrap: what am I doing wrong?
Good evening,
I just tried following the steps in "Tip: Creating throwaway appliances
with febootstrap"[1] on my workstation at home running Debian/unstable.
I ran into problems:

Using febootstrap , please help
Hello,
I am new to febootstrap. I am struggling to install fedora 14 on
disk.img (formatted with ext4fs) mounted on
/mnt/temp . How to use febootstrap to do this ? Does it require any yum
configuration ? I searched the web for documentation on this , but
nothing is clearly mentioned. Please anyone tell me how to do this.
I am doing this on Fedora 14 host.

IMPORTANT: New git repositories for febootstrap & libguestfs
The machine at et.redhat.com is going to be decommissioned soon, and
so I have arranged alternate hosting for these two git repositories.
As of now you should use:
http://git.annexia.org/?p=febootstrap.git;a=summary (web interface)
git clone git://git.annexia.org/git/febootstrap.git
http://git.annexia.org/?p=libguestfs.git;a=summary (web interface)

ANNOUNCE: 'febootstrap' is now called 'supermin'
Because of the confusion generated by calling something 'febootstrap'
which didn't have anything to do with Fedora and didn't generate
bootstrap filesystems, I have renamed 'febootstrap' as 'supermin'.
I also bumped the version number up to 4.1.0.

[PATCH] Add virtio-scsi support to febootstrap.
This patch is the minimum possible to add virtio-scsi support to
febootstrap.
Problem: SCSI devices are detected asynchronously after the Linux
kernel module is loaded.
The usual solutions to this involve scsi_wait_scan (deprecated
apparently) or udev. However febootstrap doesn't use udev, and adding
it is a ton of work with a very uncertain outcome.
So the minimum possible change is to

[PATCH 1/2] Add -u and -g options to febootstrap-supermin-helper
Bash automatically resets euid to uid when it executes. This can mean that the
effective user id of a program at the point it calls febootstrap-supermin-helper
can be lost if any part of execution chain involved bash. This in turn can
result in:
* the generation of an incorrect checksum, which contains the uid.
* the generation of supermin files with differing owners
The -u and -g options allow

plug leaks in febootstrap
Hi Rich,
I ran coverity against febootstrap's head and it spotted four leaks.
This fixes them. The first patch plugs three.
The second attempts to make the add_link function do what I'm
guessing it was intended to do. As is, it was a no-op.

febootstrap and download packages
Something that i would like to have, is the ability to keep the
download packages in a temp directory when using febootstrap.
I understand that using ferora/archlinux (distros with a lot of
package updates every day) can increase the size of this temp
directory rapidly and at some point will have a lot of deprecate
packages.
But the daily use of febootstrap (or building libguestfs) makes your

NOTE: New location for libguestfs, hivex and febootstrap git repositories
I have moved all three repositories to new locations on github:
https://github.com/libguestfs/libguestfs

https://github.com/libguestfs/febootstrap
You don't need to reclone them (unless you want to). You can simply
edit .git/config and adjust the URL to:

Yes. Run ./autogen.sh to populate it with gnulib stuff.
Actually, this may not work too well unless you have gnulib checked
out exactly in ../gnulib. I need to ask Jim Meyering nicely if he'll
make gnulib into a submodule of
