ramdisk_size
Hey All, I'am using pxelinux to try and boot a 200meg uncompressed (approx 50 compressed) ramdisk onto a machine with 512meg of ram. It looks as though I'am running out of memory (attempt to access beyond end of device error). Is there a limit on what we put for ramdisk_size? Or Is there other limitations? thanks -- Jeff Geddes, BSc(UNB) Computer Systems Specialist University of

what happens to text after the label?
Hi All, Interesting that I couldn't find this documented anywhere, but what happens to text that is typed after the label on the syslinux prompt? My current issue is I'm using PXE to do kickstart installations. I want the ability to do "rescue" boots also with PXE. I've gone looking at the current RH80 disk 1 which has this capability. It has a directory called

Isolinux 4.02
I am running isolinux 4.02 and ramdisk_size does not seem to have an effect on the ramdisk size. No matter what I set it to in the isolinux.cfg file it seems the limit is 32768. pxelinux -> pxeboot load?
Hi all, I've searched the depths of the resources on the internet; however I'm having trouble deploying a pxeboot solution via pxelinux. So far what I have successfully implemented in my infrastructure is a successful pxeboot setup for FreeBSD ( without the use of pxelinux ). I'd ultimately like to have a solution that will allow me to choose a network install of various Unix-like

Boots from prompt but not from syslinux.cfg
Hi, I have a problem with syslinux.cfg. I can boot successfully by typing on the boot: prompt but not from an entry in syslinux.cfg. The command line is boot: vmlinuz initrd=dvzip1.img root=/dev/ram ramdisk_size=8192<enter> However if I enter the label of the kernel to boot, it fails to run /sbin/init and in its absence /sbin/sh. The kernel boots correctly but gets stuck after the

I am trying to use kickstart for automated builds from a DVD. Some of the machines have DVD's drives and some have CDRom drives only. With the CDRom only machines I would like to plug in an external DVD drive via USB and use this to kickstart. The DVD only machines work correctly with a isolinux.cfg as label test kernel vmlinuz append initrd=initrd.img ramdisk_size=8192

colon in syslinux.cfg leads to "Unknown keyword"
hi, sorry for bothering the list but since I didn't find anything in the documentation or archives I would be grateful for your help. For a customized USB installer (based on redhat anaconda) I wanted to pass an kernel parameter which contains a colon. This leads twice to the error message "Unknown keyword in syslinux.cfg." Quoting the append string using ' or "
