AD home drive
Hi ,
We have an DC (Ubuntu18.04) which also acts as a file server. The server was recently classic upgraded to AD. Before that all the home drives were in /home. When we migrated to change we added the following in smb.conf to give users access to their existing home folders.
The problem now is that when we create a user either using samba-tool create user username or smbpasswd or even via RSAT,

2 things.
Hai,
Change [homes] to [users] and create the folder /home/LIN AD-DC's dont like [homes]
Share /home/LIN as [users]
Now, in the AD DC smb.conf, the templates settings are used by default.
template homedir = /home/%D/%U
Which results in your case to : /home/LIN/testhome2
That should do it, but rethink this part of you setup.
You might need to change the pam part a bit, but

pam_winbind.so
Hi all,
I am having a problem with pam_winbind.so. Is there
any documentation that tells exactly what each module
with pam_winbind.so does? In other words, what does
the auth section do, what does the account section
do??? When I try to authenticate, the auth section in
login pam seems to pass successfully, but the account
section seems to fail. Here is my login module

Possibly problem with case of filenames ?
Hi,
i'm having a little problem with samba (or Windows98 ?).
The story :
I'm using the program WHFC (Windows Hylafax Client) on
a W2k and Win98-client.
Samba 2.2.5 is running on Suse LINUX 7.1 Kernel 2.4.18.
The WHFC-program uses a share on the LINUX-server
(actually the share contains tif-images of received
faxes).
No problems with W2k, but with Win98.
The WHFC-client shows the

wrong matrix dimension in sparseQR
Hi,
I came across a case when the dimensions of matrices returned by qr()
operated on a sparse matrix does not coincide with the initial matrix.
Here is a spinet code that should produce an example (one of many that I could provide):
?m=205
?n=199
?set.seed(7);
?a=matrix(rnorm(m*n), m, n)
?a[sample(seq(m*n), m*(n-4))]=0
?a=as(a, "Matrix")
?qa=qr(a);
?stopifnot(nrow(qa at R) ==

There seems to be no pam_stack.so on SUSE. Can it work without it?
How can I fix ist? How can I trace the cause of the disfunction?

currently I am able to login to vsftpd with ANY password, that's bad.
I am not understanding that PAM-stuff and I have some pressure to get
that ftp-server up, so please would someone help me out?

Winbind/PAM/SLES 8-problem
Hi Gurus!
I'm working on getting some old SLES 8-serveres to use winbind, letting
users authenticate to our Windows AD. All the setup of samba, winbind,
adding the server to the AD etc. is working fine, and all kinds of
wbinfo returns what it is supposed to. BUT - when I try to login (using
ssh), it utterly ignores winbind, and only tries to validate local
users. Not one entry in messages

Home Directories on the fly?
Hello all,
I have a functional samba/windind file server (SLES 10) thats a member server of an Active Directory domain. I'm able to successfully resolve user and group accounts from AD. The problem I'm having is samba isn't creating home directories automatically when I try to map to a AD user share from Win XP. What I am able to do is, when I ssh into the machine with an AD user,

pam_winbind adding "BUILTIN+users" secondary group to non-AD account?
I'm working on a PAM setup that will ignore winbind/AD completely for
users listed in /etc/passwd, and do the samba thing for all other
users.
Mostly it seems to work, but there's one weird side-effect. For
non-AD users (only), an AD group "BUILTIN+users" is being added as a
secondary group. If I kill winbind, it still gets added, although
only the gid is available (no name).
