Excluding redirected directories causes file deletion on logout...
Hi,
Samba: samba-3.0.21
OS: OpenBSD
I built a new WinXP (sp2 and fully updated) box with the the idea of
making a Default User profile. I followed the directions in the "Making
Happy Users" section of the Samba-3 By Example guide.

Roaming Profile synchronization errors on new samba
I too have been experiencing the same issues with my Samba server and
Windows 8. I am currently running Samba 4.0.3. My Windows 7 client's
profiles are synchronizing, but I am receiving that same error on my
Windows 8 machines. The user has full permissions over their roaming
profile directory, so I'm not too sure what the issue is.

How to use local profiles in samba PDC?
How do you enable local profile creation on machines connected to a samba PDC?
I thought it would be automatic, but it doesn't seem to be. If there
isn't a roving profile, windows complains it can't find your profile
on the server, then instead of creating a local one, it throws up this
message:
"Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a

Samba 3.4, Windows 7, Roaming profiles and Folder redirection
Hello,
I'm quite new to Samba administration and I've inherited a working samba
setup with roaming profiles however the login and logout times for users has
been growing and I'm starting to think it's time do something about it. I'm
thinking redirect some folders to a samba share on the network will speed up
the login and logout times.
Our setup has 25 Windows 7 workstations

Roaming Profiles Annoyances
Hello,
I've finally managed to get roaming profiles working (kindof). However some
issues (after lots of googling) remain unresolved. Here's a summary of what
I've done to date:
1) Setup samba shares according to gentoo-wiki.org
<http://gentoo-wiki.org>(there were some problems with permissions etc
after that but they're ok
now)
2) Edited NTUSER of a foobar user account

Roaming profiles
Hi,
Just a quick question about Roaming Profiles : Is there a way to force
Windows to use Roaming Profils only on the share network, and without
local copy ?
I set Roaming Profile on a samba share with a GPO, but some users have a
big profile so login is very slow
Thanks

Roaming Profiles - WinXP and Win7
Hello All,
Today I was able to implement Samba4 as a DC with AD in a test
environment. I eventually got it all working and was able to join the
domain from two different virtual machines. I was also able to set up a
roaming profile share and configure a user to utilize this share. My
issue is that when I first logged into the domain after setting up the
roaming profiles I did so from a

Roaming Profiles
Hello,
I created a GPO Roaming Profiles redirection in my AD as shown on this
page
(https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Roaming_Windows_User_Profiles#The_Windows_Roaming_Profile_Versions).
The data are stored in a sharing file server (samba member domain).
When I open a windows user session it doesn't work. Event observer says
"Access denied".
So I changed 'chmod 1750

Roaming profiles - exclude Application Data from roaming profile
Hello All,
I have a problem with my roaming profiles where they are becoming too
large due to the Thunderbird mail accounts (stored by default) in
Application Data. What I would like to do is exclude this directory from
being part of the roaming profile. How can I do this?
Also, how hard is it to have some users not use a roaming profile but
others continuing to use a roaming profile? We

Move from roaming to local profiles
We are migrating all of our users from the current domain to a new one we created. In this process we are moving them from roaming profiles to local. What would be the best practice to accomplish this? I can find plenty of writeups on how to do the opposite. Also we will be doing some extra folder redirection. Currently we only redirect their my documents to the server. On the new system we plan
