I'm confused about my namespace parms
Hi, I'm new to the list and to dovecot. I'm having a strange situation that provides no errors, so I'm having a little problem diagnosing what's going on. I've been running a Centos 3 mail server with sendmail for our company for quite a few years. I finally got approval for new servers this year and put Centos 6.2 on it. I'm sticking with sendmail, but that's not

Questions still about a uw-imap -> dovecot conversion
The more I read about all of this, the more I'm thinking about moving to maildir format. My switchover this weekend is full of holes due to the way user's imap folders were laid out. Some had folders in their home directory and others might have folders in their /home/mail directory. Some how, Horde/Imp seemed to keep track of it. Dovecot is not doing so well. I've been reading

Outlook can't see namespace folders
Hi guys i understand that you can't subscribe to the Prefix names of namespace folders right now with dovecot. But for instance if i user outlook express and it can't see the prefix name then it can't see the subfolders of that "prefix folder" either. So even though it can detect and see the subfolders it won't display them cause it can't see the "parent"

expire-tool and userdb returned mail location
Hello, I'm having problems with expire-tool in Dovecot 1.2.6 not finding the mailboxes. I had mail_location = mbox:/var/spool/dovecotmail/%d/%n/mails:INDEX=/var/spool/dovecotmail/%d/%n/indexes in dovecot.conf, but that doesn't work with expire-tool. So I commented that out from dovecot.conf, all the data is in a database anyway. A userdb lookup returns the following for userid at

multi-instance doveadm user -m woes
I'm having difficulty with the doveadm who command on a multi-instance setup of dovecot. When I run the who command on the non-standard instance with the -m flag (to see their mail location), this happens: [root at wardentest3 dovecot]# doveadm -i mailtest user -m warden doveadm(root): Error: user warden: Initialization failed: Namespace 'INBOX.': Ambiguous mail location setting,

Outlook Express / Namespaces
Hi, I'm planning to switch from courier-imap to dovecot. Everythings seems fine. I adjust the namespaces to avoid client side changes. This works with Thunderbird, but Outlook Express seems to have problmes with the path "INBOX.", that I've configured in the client settings. I can remove that path, but the folders will be sorted under the inbox. Is there something that I've

Multiple namespaces seems to be used at the same time
I've just converted from an old Centos 3 box to a Centos 6.2 box. I've switched from UW-imap to dovecot in the process. In my configurations, I've placed the multiple namespace sections as suggested by the "Backward compatability" part of the wiki. I use mbox since I mostly copied the home directories from the old to the new server. On some of the clients, it appears

Outlook Express with XP...
Correct me if I?m wrong, but I thought Dovecot handled client authentication, and once authenticated handed off to postfix? > On Jun 1, 2015, at 10:05 PM, Noel <noeldude at gmail.com> wrote: > > On 6/1/2015 6:27 PM, SH Development wrote: >> Dovecot 2.0.9 >> >> I am able to connect successfully with Thunderbird, Win 8, Apple Mail, iPhone, iPad. >>

.mailboxlist -> .subscriptions
I've mostly finished a conversion from an old Centos 3 UW-Imap server to a new Centos 6 dovecot server. I did not copy the old ~/.mailboxlist file to ~/mail/.subscriptions file, but notice some users have the latter file now. These are all mbox folders on the old and new server. I'm getting ready to do the same to another old/new pair of servers and I'm wondering if there is an

Outlook Express with XP...
Dovecot 2.0.9 I am able to connect successfully with Thunderbird, Win 8, Apple Mail, iPhone, iPad. Outlook Express on Win XP receives just fine, but will not send. I get a "Client host rejected: Access denied? message. I believe this is simply Postfix telling me the connection isn?t properly authenticated, as setting up the exact same credentials on another client (non OE) works. It is

Dovecot 2.1 mbox + maildir
What syntax is needed to make this work? The 2.0 wiki recomendations don't work - I can see the inboxes or the folders but not both at once and there are lots of error messages about prefix clashes if I simply use the existing 2.0.20 conf file on 2.1.6 The layout I have is: Inboxes in mbox format - /var/spool/mail/%u Folders in maildir format - /var/spool/imap/%u/Maildir/ Control and

Snarf plugin
I've now upgraded dovecot from 2.0.21 to 2.1.10 and the good news is I no longer see dovecot crashing when loading the snarf plugin however snarf still does not do anything except make the inbox disappear. I've come to the conclusion that either snarf does not actually work, possible, but I doubt it, or more likely I have a configuration issue preventing it from working. The system is

namespace hierarchy
Hi, I'm migrating from Courier to Dovecot and would like to keep the original namespace and add two new ones on the new server. There's only one namespace in Courier which is "INBOX." . The seperator is "." In the new server I would like to have 3 namespaces (private, public, shared) and use "/" as separator. Is it possible to keep "INBOX." for

Quota-Status issue
Following this guide: http://sys4.de/en/blog/2013/04/08/postfix-dovecot-mailbox-quota/ I can't seem to get it to work, as soon as I add the smtpd_recipient_restrictions setting to postfix I can no longer send mail at all. I get the message SMTP Error (450): Failed to add recipient "postmaster at example.com" (4.7.1 : Recipient address rejected: Internal error occurred. Refer to

upgrade from version 1.0.3 to version 1.0.7
Im working on upgrading to dovecot-1.0.7 from version 1.0.3 which I installed using yum. I backed up my init.d stuff so everything still works. However, when I shutdown my old dovecot version and start the new, I get an empty mailbox when logging into mail. My current config for dovecot.conf on version 1.0.3 has this for my mailbox location:mail_location = mbox:~/:INBOX=/var/mail/%u

IMAP Folder Mail Separator
Hi, I have a fedora21 install with dovecot-2.2.18, and when creating a new subfolder with thunderbird, the actual folder name is "Folder1^Folder2" with a carat as a separator, instead of creating Folder2 in the Folder1 directory. Is this a thunderbird problem? I don't recall having this problem prior to upgrading to fedora21, so thought maybe it's a dovecot problem. Maybe the
