Hi all, I am new to CentOS. I built myself a desktop with an additional PCI wireless card 'TP-LInk WPN3800', which I have checked needs an ath9k driver. * **04:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9300 Wireless LAN adaptor* Following the wireless connection tutorial on CentOS wiki, I have both kernel-devel 2.6.6 and ath9k installed. Then I tried * $ modprobe ath9k

Recommendation for a Linux alternative to Centos - ATH9K disaster
I persuaded a reluctant friend to buy a new computer. I enthusiastically extolled the joys and benefits of Centos and promised to install it on his new machine - dual booting with Micro$oft Windoze 7. His super-duper new laptop arrived. Acer, AMD 4 core, fast etc. but not as nice looking as my impressive HP DV5. The wireless refused to connect. After 8 hours on Saturday I could sometimes see

Wireless cannot ping gateway after 6.3 CR updates
I'm having a wireless connection issue with an HP laptop and a Zotac media server after the 6.4 package updates from CR repository. Nothing changed with wireless config as far as I can tell. Both have been working fine with previous releases of 6.x. Oddly, if a cat 5 cable is connected for a few seconds and then disconnected the wireless works fine and survives a 'service network

[PATCH 1/4] net: skb_orphan on dev_hard_start_xmit
Various drivers do skb_orphan() because they do not free transmitted skbs in a timely manner (causing apps which hit their socket limits to stall, socket close to hang, etc.). DaveM points out that there are advantages to doing it generally (it's more likely to be on same CPU than after xmit), and I couldn't find any new starvation issues in simple benchmarking here. This patch adds

ath9k in CentOS 5
Hi, I'm thinking about updating the wireless card on a CentOS 5.3 box. The Wiki at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/Wireless says that the "ath9k driver ships with CentOS", but I can't find it. I've tried modinfo, locate, yum search, and yum provides, but they all come up empty. Am I missing something, or is the Wiki need correcting? I've also searched the

New wireless controller
I just installed an Asus PCE-n13 wireless card into one of my CentOS 5.6 systems. It uses the RaLink 2680 chip set and I was able to get the driver loaded using modprobe rt2x00pci.ko. I saw no error and now see that the module is loaded along with mac80211 and other dependencies. Now I need to know how to create the wlan0 device. I can find nothing via Google searches on how to create that

Panic while running defrag
I ran into a panic while running find -xdev | xargs brtfs fi defrag ''{}''. I don''t remember the exact command because the history was not saved. I also started and stopped it a few times however. The kernel logs were on a different filesystem. Here is the kern.log:http://fpaste.org/9383/36729191/ My setup is two 2TB hard drives in raid 1. They are both sata drives so
