Why is wineprefixcreate deprecated?
I understand that it is applied automatically when needed, but there are times when one would want to run it manually. An example is when I want to literally create a new wine prefix such as
env WINEPREFIX="/home/bamm/apps/myprog" wineprefixcreate
to prepare a clean profile for future installation of myprog. I know that running setup with a WINEPREFIX would create the clean profile,

Easily changing directory where program files should be installed to by default?
Dear Wine users,
installing a Windows program the program?s installer should look up some
registry entry(?) (ProgramFiles [2]) what folder to use to install the
program files into. For Englisch installations this is normally `C:
\Program Files` in my home directory.
I have small space left in my home directory, so I would like to install
the program files in a different location, for example

How to fix Wine menu fonts that are too small
I just installed WINE and got it working to some extent, but the menu
and dialog box fonts are too small. See an example at this URL:
http://www.fixaim.com/temp/winecfg.jpg
After searching winehq.org and Google groups and various other places,
the only remedies that have been suggested have not worked.
One suggestion was to copy the fonts found in such places as
/usr/share/fonts/ttf and

Font Question
I use wine to run a program called SciFinder (a remote science/chemistry
literature/patent database search tool). It runs perfectly, except for
two minor problems:
1. The application has a preferences gui that, among other things,
allows me to choose a font and fontsize for parts of the information
displayed. When I exit the program, these changes are lost.
2. The default font (and the font

font problems
Hello there,
I installed wine from this source: wine-0.9.12-SuSELinux92.i586.rpm
After that I run winecfg, It created a .wine directory at my home directory (it didn?t create any config file), so far so good.
The problem is the config tool(winecfg) doesn?t have any font neither the notepad, regedit, etc.
I imported some ttf fonts (Arial, Courier New, Times New Roman) to my

WINE is ignoring locale settings
Even on plain WINEPREFIX I am unable to get Polish-specific chars to work.
On unix (Arch x64) everytching works fine.
Wine is setting wrong codepage in registry ( in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Fonts\Codepages apears "1252,437" while it should be "1252,437")
Code:
$ locale
LANG=pl_PL.utf8
LC_CTYPE="pl_PL.utf8"

Compiling from source - where is winecfg?
Hey all,
I've just switched distro to Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) from LM9 Isadora. Some of you may be aware that the Wine Debian packages are extremely old (the repo the main page directs me to doesn't go above 1.1.4.2), so I compiled 1.3.4 from source, without installing.
That went fine, insofar as I tested with a previously-installed app and it ran, but now I want to install a

Regedit issues, not owned by root
Hello.
I have been pretty satisfied with wine since I have become aware of its existance and am having a pretty good time with it. There are, however, a couple issues I can't wrap my head around.
First of all, I cannot run regedit as root, it says:
Code:
wine: /home/mokuren/.wine is not owned by you
I don't know how the root is supposed to "not own" something. This isn't

Garbled/blurred fonts.
I installed office 2007 using this howto over on the ubuntu forum
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1102840
Everything went great. The programs run and seem to work fine, except that the old issue of wine not rendering fonts right occurs.
This issue is documented here

The solution is to add

Wine Question.
So I'm wondering is there a way to safe regedit keys values for one specific game some way? Like for example I don't use GLSL for Counter-Strike but I do for Left 4 Dead, is there a way to make it so that only Left 4 Dead enables that key while Counter-Strikes has it disabled.

regedit does not let me rename keys
I can not rename keys using the wine regedit GUI.
I had to create a .reg file in order to add the values I wanted to add, in this case Direct3D:
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D]
"VideoMemorySize"="512"
I have 64 bits Ubuntu 10.10 and Wine 1.3.7.
I did not find anything about this after a quick search in Bugzilla, is

Trouble installing packages with Winetricks
Hi all.
I know I posted a similar topic before, but I think it's necessary to re-formulate the problem since it has taken a different wider focus.
I'm trying to make some of my Windows apps to work on Linux which used to work quite well with Wine back when I had openSUSE 11.1 last year. Right now I'm focusing in one called DBabble. Back in 11.1 I used Wine Doors to download libraries

multiple wine versions
Hello I managed to install a version of wine in ubuntu using:
sudo apt-get install wine
which gave me version 1.2.2
This version has been working pretty good with World of Warcraft but according to the AppDB version 1.3.6 is much better ('platinum') for Counter-strike: Source. So I d/led the source and installed it in /home/myname/.wine-1.3.6 but i'm not sure i understand PREFIX

default font size
Hi,
since 20050628 (or slighlty earlier) the wine.config was obsoleted in favor
of winecfg.
However I can't find there a [font] section. How can I change the default
system font, or more precisely change the resolution, so the letters would
be bigger?

Wine fonts
Today I've upgraded wine to wine-20050930.
I know this version has no config file and I must use winecfg and regedit instead.
But I have a question.
How to specify [FontsDir]? I can not see cyrillic fonts.
Thanks,
Kryol
