killing rsync seems to wipe-out the --partial .hidden files
G'day, I am running an overnight (off-peak) replication using "rsync --partial" which is "suspended" at 08h30 each morning to allow for day time use of the internet link. However it seems the "kill -TERM" on the various rsync (and ssh) processes is too aggressive as I can not see any trace of the .hidden partial transfer files. I tried killing only the (parent)

3454 Abends when transferring files to Mapped Samba Drive
Hi, We have a Windows 2000 Server setup to be our FTP server. On the FTP server we have created a MAPPED drive for a AIX 5.1 server using SAMBA.. We are trying to take files from the mainframe (Z/os) to the SAMBA (AIX 5.1) mapped drive on Windows 2000 server. We get a 3454 abend when we submit a FTP job, but if we submit the job immediately after the primary 3454 abend the FTP works OK. In

Connection to rsyncd over ssh tunnel seems to choke up (v2.6.9 Ubuntu)
I have been running the following (from a cron script with a non password authorized_key exchange) ... rsync -aP -vv --exclude=".*/" -e 'ssh -fN user at site.com.au -L 8873:127.0.0.1:873' rsync://localhost:8873/data/ /data/ ... and not getting much to happen as either evidenced in /var/log/rsyncd.log or as artefacts on the local file system. Then I started to execute the

sync 54 million files, tuning rsync?
I'm trying to sync up 54 million files. I can break it down into different applications, but I still have to accomplish 17 million files in one "chunk" if possible. I'm using a fast (v440) cpu system with 32G ram. Originally I was running out of memory (seemed to increase like crazy with --delete on). I've upgraded to rsync 2.6.6 and the memory seems to be more stable

Help with debugging message
Someone has given me a data set that produces a failure with all the hallmarks of a memory overrun in a C routine. I've tried running it under an instrumented version of R with valgrind and don't catch anything. I do get one error message out though: ==642== Warning: set address range perms: large range [0x3901d040, 0x3f2ae7070) (undefined) Can anyone shed light on what this means?

Samba 3 and CUPs printer causes explorer to abend
I am attempting to setup a Samba printserver to replace our Windows Print servers. I have defined a few printers in CUPS, some raw, and some not. When I use the GUi to upload the drivers, The dialog works, however after that is accomplished, any attempt to get the printer properties or to use the printer from my W2K system (cpq0277) causes explorer to ABEND. System setup: RedHat 9 CUPS

h extension seems to wipe variables?
Hi. I'm trying to do some custom call logging, and I want to call an AGI script from a hangup handler to log call durations and things. Although the script executes, it isn't retrieving variables from the AGI interface. Looking closer, I realised the variables are actually getting unset before the h extension is reached. Dear All, Yesterday evening or cluster has stopped. Two of our nodes tried to take the resource from each other, they haven''t seen the other side, if I saw well. I stopped heartbeat, resources, start it again, and back to online, worked fine. Upgrading LLVM's minimum required CMake version
Hi All, Throwing a couple of comments in: Chris's position here has a lot of good points and we want to make sure we're not raising the barrier too high. I definitely want to be able to push ahead with our versions of tools; being able to update quickly is one of the hallmarks of the llvm project. That said, binary packages that can be updated are a minimal first step IMO. I'd really

Yum-complete-transaction wants to wipe my system out
After some enabling/disabling new repos (pgdg for PostgreSQL specifically) and admittedly some yum action that may have gone uncompleted, I am advised to run yum-complete-transaction. However, when I attempt to do this, yum warns that 225 packages will be erased, all of which I deeply care for. How can I safely back out of this situation? Thank you in advance -- Eduardo Grosclaude Universidad
