Samba streitet sich um Master Browser und wird kein PDC...
Dear all, since yesterday our samba PDC did "loose" his master status within our LAN for the domain "SRG" - since then windows boxes did not "see" the logon server anymore. nmblookup -T -M SRG is reporting some of the windows machines (one box running since more then a year...). - net rpc join -S SRG -U root (on the PDC works) - net rpc join -S 192.168.123.202

nmbd Problem
Hello, I am using samba 2.0.4b on Linux 2.0.36. Since I changed some of the parameters in my smb.conf I have a very strange Problem. Everytime my Samba-Box wins the browselist election process two nmbds are started and my WinXX-Clients do not get access to samba (I could see the server but not access the shares nor login to the domain). smbclient -L server from server works fine. From another

I am so frustrated - Samba ports not opening and no error message
Okay - I've been plugging away and it got to the point that running smbclient was returning information about an Alfresco install that I never used, so I went ahead and deleted everything I could find on my machine that said "alfresco". I then removed samba using apt-get from the machine by typing apt-get remove --purge samba I deleted the /etc/samba directory and re-installed

nmbd dies every day
Hi there, i have 2 samba servers (1 with ver 3.0.0-15 - will do an update soon - other with 3.0.2-7.FC1) both installed on Fedora 1.B and my problem is that for some reason one of them (3.0.0-15 to be exact) stops every day a few hours after everybody goes home. I had the same version on the other server and that never happened. Please any ideas why this happens? [2004/05/13 20:20:36, 3]

NT_STATUS_NO_TRUST_SAM_ACCOUNT - but it exists!
Dear All, What can I do if my Windows PDC won't recognize the machine account it has just created for my samba server? I made sure I followed all instructions in the DOMAIN-SECURITY HOWTO: # smbpasswd -j DOM -r DOMPDC1 -Uadministrator%password Joined domain DOM. # And smb.conf containing the following: [global] security = domain domain logons = yes workgroup = DOM password

Well I was sad before, when said Linux do not have tools to sysadmins regard samba and replicated file servers, like DFS. Now I am really sad not only for this, but also for fellows throw me out to the wolves... Parenthesis are not yet a good idea with Samba. A colleague created users with parenthesis in CN field and we just can't use ldbsearch to look for them, as long as we set parenthesis in LDAP filter. We must use wildcard to avoid the bug (bug because we can use escaped parenthesis in filters with ldapsearch, I can be totally wrong but I do believe if ldapsearch permit parenthesis the protocol

Hi list, I'm running Debian Jessie (8). I have Postfix and Dovecot working successfully. I attempted to setup LMTP in order to enable sieve support, but it seems I was not successful. Dovecot version 2.2.13. Postfix accepts an incoming test mail I sent, then tries to deliver it to Dovecot via LMTP: dovecot: lmtp(13493): Connect from local dovecot: auth-worker(13495): pam(srg at

After running several days in the same configuration, my 3.0.6 nmbd crashed with the above error (see log below).
