Disk free space, quotas and GPFS
I am migrating the main file servers at work onto a new storage platform based on GPFS. I am using RHEL 5.6 with the samba3x packages (aka 3.5.4) recompiled to get the vfs_gpfs and tsmsm modules, with a couple of extra patches to vfs_gpfs module to bring it 3.5.8 level. It is running with ctdb against Windows AD 2008 R2 domain controllers with all the idmapping been held in the AD. In order to

dfree command cannot report correct disk space
Hi, my  filesystems is mounted like the below df output, /share is exported in samba. Free space calculation gets it wrong
Hello! Running Samba 3.x on HP-UX 11.00, Linux and Solaris. I've got a problem with the free space calculation of Samba. The problem is, that Samba only seems to return the free space available in the top directory of a share and not the free space available in the current directory. That's a problem for me, since I share a directory on the server and then mount the actual

Win2k/XP problem displaying free space fixed in 2.2.5?
Hi List, can I assume that the problem with win2K/XP displaying wrong free space of a samba share is fixed in Samba 2.2.5. ? I found a hint on that in the following message from Jeremy Allison to th samba-tec list: "20. 2002-05-09 Re: WinXP and Win2K see wrong free space on Samba 2.2" but can't figure out wether the issue is really solved. I need this for a cutomer, but

DFS share: free space?
Hi, is it possible, to use DFS and show the correct values of free space? I set up a DFS-share located on filesystem1 (size 50GB) and linked shares of another server to this share (msdfs:<fs>\share): share1: size 110TB share2: size 50TB share3: size 20TB But connecting to the DFS-share, the disk size of this network drive ist 50GB. Unfortunately files larger than 50GB can not be copied

XFS tree quota and samba free space report
greetings, does anyone know, if it is possible to propagate somehow the XFS "directory tree quota" status to SMB workstation client free space report? currently the client sees total free space of share's partition (instead of tree quota free space). when the tree quota limit is reached, the write attempts fail, but free space report shows enough space, so this is confusing. Help: dfree command
Hi folks, I'm trying to use a custom dfree command to have my Samba share reports accurate disk usage, here my dfree script (I pretty much copied it right off the smb.conf man page) #!/bin/sh /bin/df -k $1 | tail -1 | awk '{print $2" "$4}' In smb.conf, I included this line: dfree command = /usr/local/admin/samba-2.2.4/bin/dfree This dfree command is root owned,

dfree command
Hi I'm using SuSE-Linux 7.3, Kernel 2.4.18 with samba 2.2.3a and XFS with quotas The problem is the quotas won't be displayed in Samba. So I've tried to write my own dfree command and add it in smb.conf. dfree.sh: #!/bin/sh used_space=`/usr/bin/quota -u $1 | tail -1 | awk '{print $2}'` quota_space=`/usr/bin/quota -u $1 | tail -1 | awk '{print $4}'`

dfree causing write access problems
Hi I'm having problems with the dfree option on a Solaris 10 fileserver. Specifically: I had 3.0.X on the fileserver and the dfree option worked fine. I upgraded to 3.2.2 and now if dfree is enabled the clients get 1MB reported as the size of the share and when a client tries to right to the system they get told that the filesystem is full. The script output has been tested throughly

DFree and sub-Share "disk" (volume?)
James Wright <12wrigja at gmail.com> 9:56 PM (13 minutes ago) to samba Hi Samba users, I have a Samba server with a single share backed by a ZFS pool / collection of datasets. I can correctly navigate around the share, but the free space reporting within clients is inaccurate for various directories, especially those that are themselves setup as datasets in ZFS and have quota applied to

dfree command in homes section
Hi everyone, we are using custom dfree commands to implement quotas. While these work fine on normal shares, the "dfree command" parameter seems to be ignored in the homes section. Is this correct (and intended)? Tangential Issue: idmap backend = ad and Active Directory 2008R2
Tried single quotes on Domain Admins in the pam.d file as well as a backslash on the space with no effect. I've found several references that just say "no spaces in group names." Is there really no way to do this? Also, most references I find to using these lines in pam.d say that "sufficient" should work, but I'm finding that users in the named group can then log in
