what to do about [abrt] full crash report kernel taint?
I have a machine with a recent install of centos (2.6.32-220.2.1.el6.x86_64 kernel). It crashed 3 times this week, and sent emails like the one below complaining about kernel taint. I've gone back to a previous kernel to see if that helps, but otherwise I don't know how to investigate this. What should I do? Here's stuff from the log and one of the emails:

abrtd problems
We're trying to debug a problem: a server that reboots spontaneously when this user's large, multithreaded program's running. Sometimes it won't do it for hours, other times it's literally every 10 min. I've run iostat, netstat, have top running, tail -f /var/log/dmesg, *nada*. Nothing out of the ordinary. One thing that's constant: as the system's coming back up,

weird network error
a previously rock solid reliable server of mine crashed last night, the server was still running but eth0, a Intel 82574L using the e1000e driver, went down. The server has a Supermicro X8DTE-F (dual Xeon X5650, yada yada). server is a drbd master, so that was the first thing to notice network issues. Just a couple days ago I ran yum update to the latest, I do this about once a month.

gfs2 and quotas - system crash
I have tried sending this before, but it did not appear to get through. Hello, When using gfs2 with quotas on a SAN that is providing storage to two clustered systems running CentOS6.5, one of the systems can crash. This crash appears to be caused when a user tries to add something to a SAN disk when they have exceeded their quota on that disk. Sometimes a stack trace is produced in

Programs on/off on virtual host machine
been playing with my host machine and thought some might want to see what I have on and the full list of chkconfig I have installed desktop and x windows system to bring up a desktop when I want one with startx. I turned 'off' quite a bit and yum removed quite a bit. These set of programs still allow full use as a host so far, including the startx desktop. Always afraid to remove or

Bash still vulnerable
According to the vulnerability test script from shellshocker.net, the latest bash versions on CentOS5 and CentOS6, 3.2-33.el5_11.4 and 4.1.2-15.el6_5.2, resp., are still vulnerable to CVE-2014-6277. In fact, on CentOS6, abrtd will send you a nice report about it. Does anyone know if upstream is working on a fix? [root at host ~]# bash ~/shellshock_test.sh CVE-2014-6271 (original shellshock):

need-restart ?
Hi, today I updated the glibc packages on some CentOS machines. After the Update I checked which services/processes I have to restart "yum -C ps" or "needs-restarting" At the most machines I get no information about necessary restarts, but at two machines a long listing : 1 : /sbin/init 386 : /sbin/udevd-d 659 : /sbin/udevd-d 999 : /usr/sbin/vmtoolsd 1103 : auditd 1128 :

Failing Network card
Everyone, Most of the time I am over my head in trying to troubleshoot problems. However, after reading manuals, man pages, and getting advice from this list I have been able to work my way through difficulties, and at the end, I usually have a better understanding of what 'is going on'. I can only hope this method will work on this problem too. I have been chasing a problem with a
