Problem with NTLM
Hi all; We have Squid 2.5.STABLE7running with 30 ntlm_auth helpers Version 3.0.10-1.fc3. The problem is that on the squid?s cachemgr.cgi->NTLM User Authenticator Stats is possible to verify that the ntlm_auth processes are slowly having the flag R (Reserved or Deferred) set and never being used again (the number of requests stops). This problem goes until there is no more ntlm_auth

[ANNOUNCE] libXpm 3.5.13
libXpm is the library for handling images in the XPM format. Lest we be accused that users have to wait many years to get fixes out, let's quickly release the branch before the calendar turns over over again so it's just some years. The actual fixes here are some found by static analysers, and a build fix for Windows (which, curiously, is dated to 2012 so clearly we're at the top of

frequent core dumps (invalid lock_order?)
Hi, I'm hoping somebody can point me in the right direction. My samba version is samba-4.2.10-6.2.el7_2.x86_64. I have lots of daily core dumps (~20 on each machine daily) and I have no clear idea why. I'm including the stack trace below. It looks like the problem is related to "invalid lock_order". Any ideas? Thanks, Sergei #0 0x00007fc5a34945f7 in raise () from

NTFS ACL on database and vfs_acl_tdb
Hi, we are migrating our fileserver from an old novell netware system to a samba4 system. With netware all ACL were stored in a database, so that it was possible to quickly find which files one user or group had access to. I'm investigating the possibility of writing ntfs ACL on a database with samba. The module vfs_acl_tdb is able to do this, but values are hashed so that the db is not

testparm: /var/run/ctdb/ctdb.socket missing
Apologies in advance, but I have been banging my head against this and the only Google results I've found are from 2014, and don't work (or apply). OS: Ubuntu 18.04 bionic smbd: 4.9.4-Debian (the apt.van-belle.nl version) When I run `testparm` I get: rlimit_max: increasing rlimit_max (8192) to minimum Windows limit (16384) WARNING: The "syslog" option is deprecated

Switching between
My organization is in the position of having to support full Windows ACLs on CIFS shares. We've been successfully utilizing Samba 3.5.10-125 and vfs_acl_tdb to accomplish that. However, the size of the resulting /var/lib/samba/state/file_ntacls.tdb[.unique-extension] file(s) has introduced some new problems for me to solve. In our environment, it seems on average each stored ACL causes

question about "ignore system acls"
Hi, Recently I'm trying Samba over Ceph (kernel client) mount. I encounter error when I add permission to file/directory for an additional user from Windows Explorer. Since Ceph does not support posix ACL operation for now, I was thinking that vfs_acl_xattr/vfs_acl_tdb with option "ignore system acls = yes" can workaround this issue but fail. From the man page of vfs_acl_xattr:

It appears in the man pages of several vfs modules, but never fully documented that I could find. Apparently it once was from a now dead link https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/old/Samba3-HOWTO/smb.conf.5.html#VFSOBJECTS

If you have bash-completion-extras (or the equivalent for your bistro) installed, you should be able to type ?man vfs? and hit tab completion to see your list of available vfs objects. > On Oct 30, 2019, at 11:38 AM, Rowland penny via samba <samba at lists.samba.org> wrote: > > On 30/10/2019 17:32, torch via samba wrote: >> Is the ?important" vfs objects parameter
