Nesticle
Presumably you *know* it was working because of my screenshots page, so
I'll answer :)
The upshot is Nesticle got broken when the TransGaming stuff started
landing in December. The basic problem is that the new code was for
DirectX7, while Nesticle is a DX5 app. I believe there's been some work
to fix that - I'll check latest CVS later today.

WineD3D installation issues
I don't know if this is the right place to ask for help on WineD3D, but as I am not using it for Virtualbox I thought it would be pretty useless to post on their forums.
Basically I want to use Wine to bypass the new DirectX 10's annoying 'feature' of software accelerating any programs that use DX8 or lower. I makes playing some older games either impossible or impossibly slow,

Flash, Shockwave, 3dVia plugins
Firstly, I apologise for the blatant help me nature of this question but time is really against me and I wondered if any experienced Linux/Wine users would be able to give me some basic pointers from their own experiences.
I have built 2 very budget PCs for my kids (8+5) running Ubuntu 10.04 x32. Both have good Nvidia graphics and can play HD video. In fact everything is tip top apart from Web

EPSXE under WINE.
Hello. This thread is to help anyone having problems with using EPSXE psx emulator in WINE.
EPSXE can work in WINE, only if you install directx in WINE. WINE alone does not have directx installed with it but EPSXE requires directx to function. You would need to install directx using any game which has "Install DirectX" or something similar. The redist packages for directx found online

wined3d in windows 98 - illegal operation.
Hey all!
I have recently installed a windows 98 vm on VmWare workstation in my win7x64 host os. I have downloaded wined3d from: http://www.nongnu.org/wined3d/
it says that those are builds for win32 apps, but when the installer runs I see that some syswow64 (which is a 64 bit app folder) is getting created and some dlls into it installed. Does this mean my windows 98 has now 64 bit dlls and that

wined3d.dll missing on cvs install
After checking out from cvs and running wineinstall, I get:
err:module:import_dll Library wined3d.dll (which is needed by
L"c:\\windows\\system32\\ddraw.dll") not found
Anyone know where wined3d.dll and source is supplied from? Anyone know why
this isn't in the main wine tree?
Thanks

Gaining performance by disabling functionality?
As most Wine users probably know, running applications using Wine won't (in most cases) give you the same performance as running the application in native Windows. From my experience this is especially true when it comes to applications that make use of Direct3D, and I suppose the performance drop is (at least in part) due to the translation of Direct3D to OpenGL in Wine.
Now, this got me

Java crashes in wined3d.dll
I'm trying to run a Java program in Wine on 2 different machines, and on one it crashes when it tries to draw the main window. The crash is in native code called from wined3d.dll.
I'm not sure why it needs to use wined3d as it's just displaying an ordinary workaday application window, nothing fancy, but it seems that awt.dll calls d3d9.dll anyway, which then calls wined3d.

[wined3d]Support for a Nvidia card
Hi,
In the differents bugs which were resolved by the release of wine 1.3.27 i saw that there was a patch to detect a video card => http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27924 and http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/0e043819f45f1d70ba34a026200c60908ef17d97
Like i'm a noob (I am not ashamed), i would like to know why these differents cards are listed (ATI/Nvidia/Intel) in

crash because device->swapchains is NULL.
This happens in the games Club Paradise and Spa Mania when switching between fullscreen and windowed mode. The platform is Ubuntu Desktop 32-bit 11.04 with the Recommended version of the

Missing wined3d.dll
I am trying to play Age of Mythology, I tried it with 0.9.17, it
installed ok and the game runs, but att the textures are black making
it unplayable. Looking around it seems someone else had the same
problem, but going back to 0.9.16 fixed it.
So I uninstalled the 0.9.17 package with Synaptic, and had to compile
0.9.16, because I couldn't find a deb anywhere for it. So now that is
installed,
