Cannot login after modification shadow file with guestmount
Hi.
I have a VM with CentOs6.2 on KVM. I mount an image of the VM when it's
not working with guestmount:
root at diehard:~# guestmount -a named-centos.img -i tmp
vi /etc/shadow
insert comment line into the file (esc yy p 0 i # esc :wq!), save changes,
unmount the image, turn on the VM, and I cannot login.
I cannot login even if I recover the shadow file.

3TB usb drive won't mount
Hi list!
I have a 3TB usb drive with an NTFS filesystem on it, that I can't mount.:
[bent at bnlaptop ~]$ sudo /sbin/mount.ntfs-3g /dev/sdb1 /mnt
Failed to read vcn 0xf28: Input/output error
Failed to mount '/dev/sdb1': Input/output error
NTFS is either inconsistent, or there is a hardware fault, or it's a
SoftRAID/FakeRAID hardware. In the first case run chkdsk /f on Windows

Python version fights.
Greets;
This centos6.2 system seems to have python-2.6.6, but that is turning into
a huge problem because I now have a backlog of about 40 packages that will
not upgrade because they all need python 2.4.
That, and importing gpg keys doesn't seem to be helping in that regard.
But first, how to go about down grading python to 2.4?
Thanks.
Cheers, Gene

vmware fusion display auto-size problem
Greetings.
I am running vmware fusion 4.1.1 on a OSX host. Centos6.2 is a guest.
The box is a macbook laptop running leopard.
Before upgrading to 6.2, the display auto-resize (or auto-fill) was
working fine. After 6.2, it has stopped working.
Centos is fully updated to 6.2. I have tried to install the vmware
drivers from the repository (via yum), and yum reports I have the
latest.

CentOS6.5: disklessboot could not find ramdisk but CentOS6.2 :OK. CentOS6.5 has bug with dracut?
Hi
I have trouble with disklessclient with CentOS6.5 but 6.2.
I have been using disklessclient from CentOS6.2 well.
Both server and clients work with CentOS6.2.
Recently I set up PXE boot server with CentOS6.5 and has trouble.
I built vmlinuz and initrd.image in the same method I did for CentOS6.2
[root at pxe ~]# yum -y groupinstall "Base" "Server

really? ;-)
the problem is that there is no standarized way to store metadata in a
WAVE file, like with FLAC tags / vorbis comments in flac files....

[Gluster-devel] GlusterFS 3.3.1 client crash (signal received: 6)
It's a pity I don't know how to re-create the issue. While there are 1-2 crashed clients in total 120 clients every day.

FYI, minor change in anaconda behaviour between 6.2 and 6.3
If you use a kickstart file to build unattended servers (eg virt-install)
then new disks or virtual volumes will cause problems unless you have
"zerombr true" in the kickstart file
eg
zerombr yes

How to change libvirt / cgroup interaction?
Hi there,
Do you know if there is a way to modify how libvirt interacts with the
cgroup?
Because, I successfully add the /dev/net/tun support in my LXC container
by doing:
echo c 10:200 rwm >> /cgroup/libvirt/lxc/instance-00000005/devices.allow
But when I restart the instance/LXC container, this option has gone.
How can I make this persistant? Is there a configuration file?
Thanks
