how to find unique pairs of variables?
I have two variables, both numerical. I would like to find the unique values of the pairs, in other words, unique coordinates if I were to plot them. I also need to know how many pairs there are, but I guess I can use length() if I can somehow isolate the unique pairs first? Thanks a lot! Bonnie Yuan

lapply and Two TimeStamps as input
Dear all, I have a function that recognizes the following format for timestamps "%Y-%m-%d %H:%M:%S" my function takes two input arguments the TimeStart and TimeEnd I would like to help me create the right list with pairs of TimeStart and TimeEnd which I can feed to lapply (I am using mclapply actually).  For every lapply I want two inputs to be fed to my function. I only know how to

expand.grid (the half!)
Dear all, I am using expand.grid for calculating all the possible values between four pairs. I would like to ask you if it is possible to filter the result out, so to keep all unique pairs. In my algorithm the input c(1,2) produces the same results as the c(2,1) so for example in the following code below > expand.grid(c(1,2,3),c(1,2,3))   Var1 Var2 1    1    1 2    2    1 3    3    1 4

find and replace string
Dear all, I would like to search in a string for the second occurrence of a symbol and replace the symbol after it For example my strings look like sta_+1+0_field2ndtry_0000$01.cfg I want to find the digit that comes after the second +, in that case is zero and then over a loop create the strings below sta_+1+0_field2ndtry_0000$01.cfg sta_+1+1_field2ndtry_0000$01.cfg

Find the sign
Hello :) I wanted to right an expression to check when x and y have the same sign and I wrote the following: if ((x<0 && y<0) || (x>0 && y>0)) which looks pretty ugly to me. Can you please suggest me a better way for that? Regards Alex

Find in R and R books
Hello everyone. In matlab  (again) there is a fucntion find that returns you the indexes where the condition in find was met. I want the same functionality in R i.e find(Mydata>2) to return all the indexes where the condition is met. Do you know something like that? Also when I try to search in google using for example the word R inside the search lemma I get very few results as the R confuses

Help me apply mapply
Hello all I would like to ask your help use mapply. I have a function called findCell that takes two arguments(x,sr) where x is a vector of size two (e.g x<-c(2,3) and sr is a matrix. I would like to call many times the findCell function (thus I need mapply) for different x inputs but always for the same sr. as x is a vector of size two (two cells) I want to pass inside inside the following

pairs matchning
Hi You could try to find an equivalent representation as a string and try to match those. > (A <- cbind(sample(1:2, 10, rep=TRUE), sample(1:2, 10, rep=TRUE))) [,1] [,2] [1,] 1 2 [2,] 1 2 [3,] 1 2 [4,] 2 2 [5,] 1 1 [6,] 1 2 [7,] 1 2 [8,] 1 1 [9,] 1 2 [10,] 1 1 > (B <- unique(A)) [,1] [,2] [1,] 1 2

How to catch warnings
Hello when my code executes I receive the message that were some warnings. I want to catch warning messages at run time so to print some local variables and try to understand why this warning happens. I searched on internet and I tried withCallingHandlers( which seems to work but as I used Rkward the result is awful. I get a prompt to copy paste a value only while at the same time my background

Support 64-bit pointers in open source RV32 GPU ISA using register pairs and address space ID’s
Hello everyone, We are working on extending RISC-V LLVM backend which will help us to achieve the goal of improving programmability in the second generation design of our open source RISC-V manycore processor (bjump.org/manycore). We started with supporting 64 bit pointers in RISCV 32 bit backend using address spaces and register pairs. We aim to support 64 bit pointers in address space 1 using

Sample covariance matrix in R
Hello everyone. I would like to find the sample covariance matrix using R. So far I read on the wikipedia what a sample_covariance is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sample_covariance according to wikipedia one vector is enough to calculate the sample covariance matrix. In R I tried cov(myvector) and I get the reply that I need to pass either two argument or one matrix with x,y values . How can I

Automaticall adjust axis scales
Dear all, I have made a function that given a number of list elements plot them to the same window. The first element is plotted by using plot and all the rest are plotted under the same window by using lines. I have below a small and simple reproducible example. x1<-c(1:10) plot(x1) x2<-c(11:20) lines(x2) x3<-c(31:40) lines(x3) as you might notice the two consecutive lines

fast way to compare two matrices of combinations
I have a list (length 750), each element containing a vector of unique strings (unique gene ids), with length up to ~40 (median 15). I want to compile a matrix of all possible triplets and their frequency within gene elements. Using combn and a lot of looping, I am accomplishing this but it is VERY slow. I've tried to figure out a way to vectorize this, using "match" and
