Mystery of email authentication
I'm trying to setup sendmail/dovecot on a new server running CentOS-6 (well, CentOS-6.2 now). Everything seems to go well, but when I run fetchmail I get this warning: ------------------------------------ [tim at grover ~]$ fetchmail imap.maths.tcd.ie fetchmail: Warning: the connection is insecure, continuing anyways. (Better use --sslcertck!) ------------------------------------ I should

Turn off fetchmail warning?
Is there any way of turning off the fetchmail warning ---------------------------------- fetchmail: Warning: the connection is insecure, continuing anyways. (Better use --sslcertck!) ---------------------------------- which I get when fetching imap mail from my college department? I know they should get a root certificate, but I'm told they are looking into it, but that could take forever.

Problem with dovecot on home LAN
At present I get email directly on my laptop in /var/spool/mail/* through uucp. I'd like to get the email in the same directory on my desktop (alfred), and then run a mail server on the destop and collect the email on my laptop (william) (or on other computers on my two little home LANs, ethernet and WiFi). I was advised that dovecot was a good imap server for this purpose (I tried

OpenLDAP migration from Centos 5 to 6
I'm moving my home network server from a Dell server, which has been having some mysterious problems, to an HP MicroServer. Everything - MySQL, OpenVPN, email (dovecot), httpd, etc - except for openLDAP, which is taking more time than everything else put together. I haven't found any straightforward instructions on this anywhere. The official RedHat document

Radeon driver under CentOS-6
I wonder if anyone has CentOS-6 working on an HP MicroServer? I'm having a problem with the graphics driver for the Radeon HD 4200 graphics card. CentOS-5.6 is working fine on this machine; but at present I only have CentOS-6 running in text mode. The graphics card as given by "/sbin/lspci -m" is ------------------------------- 01:05.0 "VGA compatible controller"

KMail + dovecot
Is anyone running docecot on a home LAN. to give an IMAP feed to other machines on the LAN? I am running dovecot on my desktop, alfred. I want to collect email on my laptop, william, using KMail. As far as I can tell, dovecot is running perfectly. I can bring email from /var/spool/mail/tim on alfred to the same directory on william by running "fetchmail alfred" on william. I can then

spamassassin with postfix/dovecot
I'm trying to install spamassassin on a postfix/dovecot server, running CentOS-6.4, following the instructions at <http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Amavisd>. I think I have taken all the steps indicated, and the configuration seems to pass the tests suggested, although the response is much more sparse than that described: ------------------------ [tim at alfred ~]$ telnet localhost 10024

test77, yahoo & fetchmail
I've run into a rather narrowly scoped problem .. On test77 and test78, mails from Yahoo's webmail are seen, by fetchmail using imaps, to have a 0-length body. When fetching, it claims "0 body octets". Other mail clients (mutt, kmail) can view the messages fine. pop3s retrieval works as well. Every other email I've received so far works fine. It's just those sent by

Strangely slow disk
I have a 1.5TB Western Digital hard disk (WD15EADS-00R6B0) on my CentOS-5.7 server, which has become incredibly slow for some operations, eg rsync, BackupPC archive, e2fsck, although it seems to work fine for ordinary file operations, and "smartctl -a /dev/sdb" does not report any errors. For example, running "e2fsck -p /dev/sdb5" on a 250GB partition on this disk took over 24

fetchmail can't talk to dovecot
Hello, I have dovecot q1.0-0_22.rc7 up and running on a server: I can read email from squirrelmail just fine. When I try to download email with fetchmail, however, I get the result below. Why is that happening? In dovecot.conf I have: protocols = imap imaps pop3, so why should pop3 or imap fail? Where should I look? (I'll fix the certificates problem after I've managed to get in

NM on a server?
Is there any point in running NetworkManager on a server? The IP addresses of the two server NICS are fixed (192.168.1.2 and 192.168.2.2 .) I'm not clear if it is necessary in some way to run NM on a CentOS system? -- Timothy Murphy e-mail: gayleard /at/ eircom.net tel: +353-86-2336090, +353-1-2842366 s-mail: School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin 2, Ireland

postfix-dovecot via lmtp
I've been trying for some days to get postfix + dovecot + pigeonhole/sieve working on a CentOS-7 home server. postfix + amavisd-new
I've been following the instrunctions in <http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Amavisd> for installing Amavisd, Clamav and SpamAssassin on top of postfix/dovecot . Dovecot is working fine, but I want to deal with spam email. (I am using sendmail/dovecot with procmail and spamassassin on another server, but decided to go over to postfix on this server when I saw it is now the CentOS default.)

CentOS-6 by PXEboot?
Has anyone succeeded in installing CentOS-6.0 by PXEboot. If so, would you say how you did it, please. I tried (on an HP MicroServer), but gave up in the end and used a USB stick installation instead. But I'd be very interested to know how to do it, for the future. Unfortunately I didn't keep a proper note of my PXEboot attempt, but IIRC the problem was that install.img was not found,

My new server
I bought a very cheap server yesterday - an HP ProLiant micro server for 160 euro (280 euro with 120 cashback, for some reason). But I was surprised when I opened the box to find it didn't come with keyboard or mouse, and doesn't have the old keyboard/mouse sockets, but requires USB versions. Is that the norm nowadays? Is it possible to convert the old keyboard/mouse plugs? Also there is
