I am using centOS for my server and centOS is extremely stable. I almost love centOS more than my wife. However, centOS is a bit heavy to run on my notebook (P III 1G, 256MB RAM). Gentlemen, I have a question regarding yum groupinstall vs just using yum install. I have been reading tutorials online (for example how to run a Centos LAMP). Most of the tutorials have examples to install httpd, mysql, etc using yum install httpd.... The reason for this e-mail is that I noticed in yum grouplist that there is an option to install Web Server, MySQL database server, etc.

Can anyone recommend an opensource package (preferably something centos 4X compatible) that can be used on a (iptables) firewall to block virus/trojan, etc? And maybe something for intrusion detection? Thanks! Dnk
