IAX TO IAX call between two registered servers
Hello all,
I know this has been covered on list but can not find the answer I need, lots
of references to no authority found, but none with an answer.
I have two * servers, one behind firewall with nat the other on a dmz with
nat. Both servers register with each other successfully.
home is today's CVS-HEAD

net getlocalsid: is this a bug?
I noticed the following:
Suppose that we have a server called "SMALLSERVER" working as a PDC for
"SMALLDOMAIN**".
When I enter "net getlocalsid" I get the following output:
SID for domain SMALLSERVER is: S-1-5-21-xxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxx
But when I enter "net getdomainsid" I get:

failed: Too many levels of symbolic links
All,
My dovecot install works great except for one error I keep seeing this
in my logs. The folder has 7138 messages in it. I am informed the user
they needed to reduce the number of messages in the folder and believe
this will fix the problem. My question is about where the problem
lies. Is the problem related to an internal limit with Dovecot v2.0.15
or with my Debian (3.1.0-1-amd64)?

My Switch is being attacked using sip scanner tool (Service Abuse Attack)
An attacker is scanning my Asterisk Switch to gain illegitimate access to
VoIP call functionality.
Using a sip scanning tool, *it* sends REGISTERs with random identities. And
when it discovers one identity subscribed in my switch, it tries to
authenticate with random passwords using this user name.
For the moment, I have replaced this account. And also blocked the IP it has
used but each time

Possible sort optimization (?)
Maybe this is just noise... but I can reproduce this fairly reliably.
Mailbox with 21,000+ messages
This query:
a UID SORT RETURN (ALL COUNT) (DATE) UTF-8 SUBJECT "foo"
is always about 10 percent slower than this split query (I've done
this 4-5 times, and the numbers are similar):
a UID SEARCH RETURN (SAVE) CHARSET UTF-8 SUBJECT "foo"
b UID SORT RETURN (ALL COUNT)

idmap & migration to rfc2307
I *think* I may have encountered a bug, or a feature, in the idmap/winbind area.
I have recently added rfc2307 attributes to my AD, and am in the
process of switching over. This means that I still have
(unintentionally) some files/directories/etc. around with old UIDs
e.g. 3000007, rather than my rfc2307 specified UIDs.
What I am seeing is that the SID2XID mapping is initially correct for

registration problem using asterisk 1.6
Hello,
I am trying to connect an asterisk 1.6 to a trunking plate forme. With
asterisk 1.4.x I added to sip.conf a line asking for registration in the
form of:
register = XXXXXXXXX at domain.com:Password:XXXXXXXXX at domain.com<assword%3AXXXXXXXXX at domain.com>
@domain.com
Unfortunately, as you can see, my usernames have to be of the form

samba vpn pptp [the specified network name is no longer available]
hi guys,
I'm having trouble accessing samba share files from a
windows xp client using a vpn pptp connection. I configured samba and
it works excellent on the LAN but when i connect through pptp and
access the samba server \\192.168.3.1 I can see the shared folders but
when i try to browse them, windows hangs (4 a change!) for a while
then returns "the specified network name

RFC 3501 compliance issue: body-type-msg incorrect

I am using Dovecot 1.0 beta 7, moving to beta8 probably tomorrow.
I am seeing a few RFC compliance issues with IMAP responses. I have an in-house IMAP client that caches IMAP data for a web mail system (it parses millions of IMAP interactions a day), and it reports whenever it gets a line that does not look RFC compliant. Polycom Dialplan Digitmaps
I'm replacing a SoundPoint IP 600 with a SoundPoint IP 650.
I attempted to simply reuse the existing config files for the old phone
on the new phone, but the new phone would lock up on the 4th digit when
attempted to dial out certain numbers. So, I downloaded the newest
firmware and config templates from Polycom, and attempted to migrate the
settings. Seems I'm missing something from

Connection drops after entering password.
Has anyone seen the error that I'm getting below? After you ssh to the box
and enter the password the connection just closes.

winbind authentication performance: lookup_groupmem in large sites

I have set up winbind to authenticate linux pc's to a windows 2003 AD.
The authentication works, but the performance is not good (takes over 5 minutes)

IDMAP_RID with Winbind works for groups but not users

I've setup samba 3.4.7 to use idmap_rid as per the documentation:
idmap backend = rid:DOMAIN=500-100000000
idmap gid = 500-100000000
imap uid = 500-100000000
It seems to work for groups:
wbinfo --group-info="domain admins"
domain admins:x:100512

mbox empty messages in Sent folder
I'm talking about mbox Sent folder, where some mailers append through
imap server
a copy of each message they send.
Sometimes, just three header lines got appended instead of the whole
mail message, such as:

Different codecs for different numbers via same IAX provider; how? Configs included.
Hi,
I have been trying to work this out and haven't been able to.
I have some incoming numbers that come in over IAX, from the same server,
and wish to use different codecs for different calls. This doesn't seem to
work for incoming either.
I cant seem to get any combination of allow/disallow to work..
Ideally the following would work:

hist() and bar spacing
Hello,
Could someone explain to me why I get so different histograms, in terms of
bar spacing, depending on the number of counts entered ? (see example below)
