flintlock fork causes hang in Apache+Python+mod_python
I am trying to use Xapian 1.0.2 with the Python SWIG
bindings withn an environment consisting of Apache
httpd with mod_python. (not as a CGI) Also this is
Linux.
Whenever the python code attempts to open a database
the entire httpd process will hang indefinitely. The
python bindings work outside of the apache/mod_python
environment.

mod_python - apache crash
one of my developers is using a mod_python module called xml.dom.minidom
and its causing the issue as outlined below
http://www.dscpl.com.au/wiki/ModPython/Articles/ExpatCausingApacheCrash
This is on CentOS 4.5 and so Apache 2.0.52-38 - I cant change the OS
version but i could change the apache and or mod_python version.
Does anyone know of any fixes to this apart from rolling my own?
thanks

Re Centos 7.2 Repos
Hi All,
I am having a terrible time installing multi media tools
like smplayer (which requires mplayer), which is not avaiable
from the centos repos.
I have installed epel.repo which containa the epel-release repo info
for yum
Still I cannot install many things.
For example, I ran
for i in faad2-libs liba52.so.0 libaa.so.1 libartsc.so.0 libass.so.4
libaudio.so.2 libavcodec.so.53 libavcodec.so.53

Python/sqlite date time problems.
Bear with me, this is CentOS related. :)
I have a python CGI that's behaving weirldy on Whitebox systems
that've been switched over to CentOS 4 (ages ago, no other problems to
speak of aside from this one).
I've broken the problem down to a minimal test case...
1. Create a small database

GRUB woes: GRUB Hard Disk Error
Hello all,
I am attempting to install CentOS 5.5 on a recently donated home server (was
Windows). I've tried installing twice; first, separating /boot, swap, /,
/var, /usr and /home into different partitions, the second time choosing
default layout. Both times have resulted in "GRUB Hard Disk Error" upon
boot.
About the hard disk, it is a Seagate SATA drive. I do not have another

Hi,
After doing a clean install of ovirt in a Fedora 11 VM, I am unable to
get anything working in the web interface. All I get is an error 500.
After reviewing the logs I see the following error in

Apache Not Serving, But Is Serving?
Hi;
I installed
yum install mod_python
and all went well. So I thought it would be appropriate to reboot apache
apachectl -k restart
and it appeared well but the pages don't load (they hang). Nevertheless,
# ps wax|grep httpd
12179 ? Ss 0:00 /usr/sbin/httpd
17698 ? Z 0:00 [httpd] <defunct>
17703 pts/0 S+ 0:00 grep httpd
So what gives? Please advise.

I''m currently running three puppet masters (version 2.7.3 via apache

Guide to SELinux
Since the "SELinux - way of the future or good idea but !!!" thread is deep
in heated discussion, I decided not to derail to ask a simple question.
I found this guide for SELinux: http://www.linux-books.us/centos_0005.php and
it looks like it's straight out of RedHat.
However, it's dated 2005. Will this be sufficient to help understand a

Windows TAP Problems?
Hello tincers,
I was recently trying to add a new Windows client to my tinc network and
ran into an interesting error; upon starting tinc I am met with the
usual successful startup (debug level 0; detects TAP device; Ready),
however it appears that any writes/reads from the TAP device fail with:
"Error while writing to Windows tap device <device ID truncated>: (997)

Forbidden: can't access *.html files in /var/www/html
Hello,
I'm using the latest CentOS with phpBB 3.0.x + postgreSQL + sendmail
(relayed through gmail.com) - all those programs working fine,
with no big modifications of the CentOS defaults (i.e. SELinux is on).
Now I'm struggling with the seemingly simple problem, that when
I put an .html file into /var/www/html/ then Apache won't serve it.
In the browser I see:
