Aranda-Ornaz links for binary data
Hi, I would like apply different link functions from Aranda-Ordaz (1981) family to large binary dataset (n = 2000). The existing links in glm for binomial data (logit, probit, cloglog) are not adequate for my data, and I need to test some other transformations. Is it possible to do this in R? And how? Thank you for your help, /Sharon

making a plot in xyplot
Hello, I am a newbie to the lattice package in R, and I'm trying to make a plot using the xyplot function. I have repeated measures data (2 conditions) for two different groups of subjects (teens and adults). So far, I've made a basic graph using xyplot(y ~x, group=subnum, data=mydata, type="b"). Now I would like to make all the teens' lines one color and the adults'

New package: ordinal
This is to announce the new R-package ?ordinal? that implements cumulative link (mixed) models for ordinal (ordered categorical) data (http://www.cran.r-project.org/package=ordinal/). The main features are: - scale (multiplicative) as well as location (additive) effects - nominal effects for a subset of the predictors (denoted partial proportional odds when the link is the logistic) - structured

Needing a better solution to a lookup problem.
I have a solution (actually a few) to this problem, but none are computationally efficient enough to be useful. I'm hoping someone can enlighten me to a better solution. I have data frame of chromosome/position pairs (along with other data for the location). For each pair I need to determine if it is with in a given data frame of ranges. I need to keep only the pairs that are within any of

This is because I don't know how to get the changed flags on quota sync method. The courier quota behavior is avoid to count all deleted mails, include "mark as deleted" mails. -- Antonio P?rez-Aranda Alcaide aperezaranda at

How to google for R stuff?
Hi! I'm new to R programming, though I've been programming in other languages for years. One thing I find most frustrating about R is how difficult it is to use Google (or any other search tool) to look for answers to my R-related questions. With languages with even slightly more distinctive names like Perl, Java, Python, Matlab, OCaml, etc., usually including the name of the language

Theora, MMX and optimisation
Hi everyone, I just landed into the theora planet, as a game programmer, I searched for a free video fomat/codec and the theora choice became obvious. However I experienced rather bad performance (at least from a game programming point of view) After a couple a profiling, I discovered, as previous discused in a post found via Google, that the bottleneck is in the ogg library. An unsane part of the

Imap Folder activity detect
Hi all, We are migrating a mail service with 80.000 users, and 40.000 of them are using IMAP. At present, this service is handled by Courier, with some custom patches. And we are migrating to Dovecot 1.2.15. One of these patches is used to interact with Spamassassin. If Courier detects any move/copy operation to the "IsSPAM" or "IsntSPAM" folders, a specific bash script is

what is patched and what is not?
I'm trying to pick a kernel for ext3. Looking at the web page (http://www.zip.com.au/~akpm/linux/ext3/), I see little that clues me in to the fact that "most" of ext3 is already in (some|most|all) of the 2.4 series kernels. Am I correct that most of the patches listed on the web page now are actually bug fixes to the existing ext3 code, as opposed to previous patches that actually
