Extraneous information
Not technically a bug, but a small waste of bandwidth: it seems (at
least as of 1.2.10) that if neither CONDSTORE/QRESYNC are enabled
dovecot still sends HIGHESTMODSEQ info:

Random flags appearing on messages
Not reproducible every time, but every so often, after viewing an
unseen message, I am seeing the first non-system flag set on the
message without an intervening STORE call.

"Not connected to database" MySQL errors
I've been in the process of moving my pop3 proxy over to the dovecot proxy.
I have a ton of users using pop3 still, and am seeing these errors popup
within a minute or so of the connection to the database:
Password query failed: Not connected to database
Eventually the auth-worker will reconnect to the database and things will go
on normal for another minute or two, then the same issue

doveadm -A stops processing at first uid<first_valid_uid
I would like to run various doveadm commands that involves all (mail) users like
doveadm expunge -A mailbox Trash savedbefore 30d
but any doveadm command that uses "-A" to iterate through all users will
stop processing at the first account with UID<first_valid_uid.

IMAP-proxy or not with sogo webmail and dovecot backend
We've been collecting some stats to see what kind of benefits

running in High-performance mode http://wiki2.dovecot.org/LoginProcess

dirsize quotas crashing 1.0.rc19
Hi,
I've been trying to get dirsize quotas to work properly with 1.0rc19
and Dovecot consistently crashes when attempting to do file copies
once a user is over quota.
Dovecot works fine for us for regular mbox based IMAP, but as soon as I
add the following two entries in their respective locations in dovecot.conf:
mail_plugins = quota imap_quota (in the imap{} section)

Didnt get a frame from Channel and call gets disconnected
Hello,
Since last few days I have noticed some people complaining that their call
gets disconnected while they are in the middle of the conversations. Looking
in the log I found these error messages,

Dovecot performance under high load (vs. Courier)
Hi,
We are building a new system that will support a large number of users (high volume, high concurrent usage, etc).? We have played with Dovecot, but in most serious applications we have traditionally used Courier IMAP.? It's my (lay) understanding that with indexing and perhaps other things in Dovecot, it might perform better than Courier in larger environments like this.? Am I correct or

need simpler instructions for user authentication
Hi all,
My situation is this: I have postfix running on a Linode under Arch Linux.
A recent upgrade to dovecot broke the configuration. Now I get
"Couldn't drop privileges: User is missing UID (see mail_uid setting)."
I do not want virtual users. I do not particularly want SQL or LDAP. I
do have multiple domains. I do use Maildir. I already have SSL
certificates for the server

Permission problems
Hi,
I've set up a Postfix and Dovecot (only IMAP) combination using MySQL and
Postfixadmin on Fedora. Almost everything works correctly now. The only
thing bugging me right now is that I always have to change the access
privileges of the directories in /var/run/dovecot/ manually to 777 to make
it work. As you understand, I'm not particularly happy about this as it
doesn't feel secure

Multiple namespaces seems to be used at the same time
I've just converted from an old Centos 3 box to a Centos 6.2 box. I've
switched from UW-imap to dovecot in the process. In my configurations,
I've placed the multiple namespace sections as suggested by the
"Backward compatability" part of the wiki. I use mbox since I mostly
copied the home directories from the old to the new server.
On some of the clients, it appears

Aix-Samba memory problem
Hi guys,
I recently came into a new site that is running Samba 2.2.8 on an AIX 4.3.3 box. They are sharing out about 2 terabytes using samba. Samba was installed using smitty and the binaries.
They seem to be experiencing a memory problem with this box. When I do a svmon -Pu the monitoring program shows that smbd has several processes of smbd running:
Inuse * 4096 = amount of memory being

[BRIDGE]A basic question: what's the relationship of the Rx/Tx packets count between the bridge and its enslaved NIC.
I have a bridge br0, it enslaves two NICs: eth0 and eth1.
By using "cat /proc/net/dev ", i can see the Rx/Tx packets and bytes
through each interface. just like this:
[* time tick 1 *]
Inter-| Receive | Transmit
face |bytes packets errs drop fifo frame compressed

syncer causing latency spikes
Hello,
I'm trying to investigate and solve some postgres latency spikes that
I'm seeing as a result of some behaviour in the syncer. This is with
FreeBSD 8.2 (with some local modifications and backports, r231160 in
particular). The system has an LSI 9261-8i RAID controller (backed by
mfi(4)) and the database and WALs are on separate volumes, a RAID 6 and
a RAID 1 respectively. It has
