deliver: Fatal: setgid(114) failed with euid=8, gid=8, egid=8: Operation not permitted
I'm calling 'deliver' from Postfix and in some cases from Procmail. I set this system up more than six months ago and it's been working flawlessly until yesterday (16:52:19 local time) when it, without any apparent reason, just stopped delivering mails! Lots of checking and googling (I've forgot how exacly I setup the system :), I made 'deliver' SUID and it worked

dovecot 1.2.5 Fatal: setgid(5000(vmail)) Operation not permitted
This is the error I'm getting (whenever i recieve and email): *deliver() : Fatal: setgid(5000(vmail)) failed with euid=5000(vmail), gid=8(mail), egid=8(mail): Operation not permitted (This binary should probably be called with process group set to 5000(vmail) instead of 8(mail)) * I am at loss. deliver setgid issues
Okay .. have dovecot set up with following settings : userdb static { args = uid=97 gid=97 home=/export/dovecot/mail/%d/%u mail=mbox:/export/dovecot/mbox/%d/%u/ } passdb passwd-file { # Path for passwd-file args = /etc/dovecot-passdb } Passdb works I think in the sense that I can log into dovecot using a regular mail client. The real issue is when I try to deliver

dear all probably something trivial, just cannot get my way around it, my goal is to get sieve on local-system users too, so postfix hands lda over to dovecot errors with mail for system users: lda(me): Fatal: setgid(12(mail)) failed with euid=501(me), gid=513(Domain Users), egid=513( Domain Users): Operation not permitted (This binary should probably be called with process group set to

Fatal: setgid from userdb lookup fails with wrong gid
Hello all, I'm quite new as well to Dovecot, just installed it on a FreeBSD system with Postfix and Rspamd as side apps. Things are running semi-smoothly for all users but I do have quite a few errors in the logs : Oct 13 19:43:56 apollo dovecot[24478]: imap(user1)<34412><zIeI9ZCxXDmsFhZG>: Fatal: setgid(1030(user1) from userdb lookup) failed with euid=1022(user4),

Fatal: setgid from userdb lookup fails with wrong gid
Hi, Not sure if this is it, but I used to have the same error when I started with dovecot. Aki's response was the following (and solved my problem). ------------- Hi! You can't set service imap { service_count = 256 } if you are using multiple system UIDs. See https://wiki.dovecot.org/Services#imap.2C_pop3.2C_submission.2C_managesieve *service_count* can be changed from 1 if only a

Ubuntu, Exim, deliver: permissions/setgid problem
Hello all, I have a little problem. I'm trying to set up Dovecot deliver (1.0 beta 3) as the LDA for Exim4 on Ubuntu 6.06 with MBOX, and I'm running into permissions problems. Exim typically wants to run pipes as the user to whom the mail is being delivered (as per the "check_local_user"). deliver needs access to the auth socket and needs to be able to create files in /var/mail.

I'm still trying to fix this problem. Hopefully someone can help. I've upgraded dovecot to 2.3.3 # dovecot --version 2.3.3 (dcead646b) That didn't help. Next I switched 10-auth.conf to use a local password file (instead of LDAP) ======================================= # cache all authentication results for one hour auth_cache_size = 10M auth_cache_ttl = 1 hour

Fatal: setgid, imap connections dropped.
Hi, I'm getting errors with my IMAP setup. Basically, everything seems to work. Mail is delivered nicely from Postfix to Dovecot via LMTP. Dovecot does the authentication to LDAP (also for Postfix). Users are able to send mail via authenticated submission (Postfix) and login into IMAP and POP. However, IMAP connections are dropped frequently with an "ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP

Hai Ian, Can you run this one again on both servers and pm me both outputs. I'll have a good look. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/thctlo/samba4/master/samba-collect-debug-info.sh I've updated the file, so do use the new one. permissions of newly created mailboxes only with dovecot-lda and posix acls
Hi! I am experiencing troubles concerning the inheritance of the setgid bit if a new mailbox is created with dovecot-lda. If it is created with dovecot/imap, everything works fine. dovecot-lda is called from postfix like this: ---------- mailbox_command = /usr/local/sbin/postfix-lda.sh ---------- logger -p mail.info -t postfix-lda "H: $HOME, S: $SENDER, R: $RECIPIENT, U: $(umask), id:

Hello, I'am following the beginning tutorial on the Wiki, but actually, I can't even start the server correctly so far. The imap-login child dies immediately. What I can guess from the log is that it tries some unpermietted operations on some files but I can't find out which files are concerned. Google is not my friend at all either on this matter. How can I know which files are
