Capistrano / developing on win32 / deplyoying on Linux
Hi, I''m new at rails and am in the midst of deploying my first app to a test server. The app was developed on windows. I used Capistrano to deploy, and found a few issues: 1) I must chmod 755 dispatch.cgi each time I deploy 2) script/parse/reaper also doesn''t have the executable attributes so the deployment fails. 3) database.yml as checked out from svn isn''t

Icecast is running, but not responding
Sorry, I seem to have buried the issue in the midst of the post. The issue is, the Icecast is running, but will not display a web interface at my.ip.address:8000 and will not accept connections from my encoder. Anyone have any idea why it might be behaving this way? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Generating help files for a function
Hello everyone! I'm in the process of writing a package, and I'm using the lovely "R Package" book as a guideline. However, in the midst of my work, I discovered that I had omitted a function and am now putting in it the package. Not a problem. But the problem is the help file. What is the best way to generate a help file "after the fact" like that, please? Thank

Recommended passdb backend
We're in the midst of setting up a Samba 3 system as our PDC. I come from a Samba 2 world, where the passdb backend was smbpasswd. What's the ... er, 'best' passdb backend at this point? To qualify best, there's no limitations on the type of storage used (LDAP, MySQL, XML, etc). I'm just looking for something that's going to make integration with a 2000/XP domain

Dovecot LDA munging INBOX access times?
We are running Dovecot 1.0.0 using mbox format (currently in the midst of conversion from UW IMAP). We discovered today that the Dovecot LDA is accessing the user's INBOX at delivery time! Not only do our users rely on this access time being when they last accessed their e-mail, we also rely on it to migrate "inactive" users to cheaper disk. I consider this a major bug for us and

Stress testing for ext3?
Does anyone know of a good method for exercising an ext3 file system? Perhaps something that involves power removal in between commits or in the midst of a write, and then checks for corrupt data. Do any utilities exist for this? Thanks! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Return error instead of dying on time back skip?
Hello everybody! Currently, dovecot just kills itself if it detects that time has moved backwards more than a hardcoded number of seconds. I accept the reasons, but I do not like to restart dovecot manually after waiting for time to move forward again. A cron job would not help, because time might still be wrong when it restarts dovecot. All our systems run ntpd, but they might be offline

Weird Mongrel error: Not starting.
Hi list, I have a problem with Mongrel which is really bugging me. I would really appreciate any help that anyone can provide to help me in solving this problem. 1. My setup: Apache front_end with mod_proxy_balancer in front of 4 mongrel/rails instances of my application. Rails 1.2.5 Ruby 1.8.6 Mongrel 1.1.1 2. I noticed that the CPU consumption on my server was 100% being consumed by ruby so I

Attack on Sip server.
Hi All. Someone is attacking on my SIP server. There are lot of requests coming in and I am not able to stop it because I am unable to detect the IP address. I used wireshark to capture the packets. Although I am using very strong password for my SIP users but still is there any way to drop these packets and stop this attack. I tried dropping packet after matching some string (most of the

Hardware-based Icecast source client
Hi all, I'm in the midst of creating a turnkey Icecast source client embedded in a plug computer, using Ices2. I've hacked together some scripts to automate the starting and stopping of a live stream (launched by pressing buttons on the device). It's dead easy once the network/server is configured - you just plug it in, push a button and you're live. It accepts any Debian

librarian-puppet vs git superproject?
Can anyone comment on their experiences with librarian-puppet or using git superproject with per puppet module repositories? We are in the midst of determining which route is optimal for our environment. It seems like using git superprojects would mean one less new tool for everyone to learn. What then would be the advantages of librarian-puppet? Thanks, Ryan Bowlby -- You received this

parmat error from MASS?
i'm in the midst of using R for a PVA/matrix project. my math skills are lousy and programming skills are worse. to deal with an error that i couldn't solve, i changed a parameter that used a new part of a routine in our PVA package's code: else if (ES == "ParDraw") { require(MASS) (previously, ES was "MatrixDraw" and MASS wasn't called for) now,

acl flag to limit imap_acl based acl changes
Hi all! I have tried the imap_acl plugin with 1.2.9 today, but was not able to limit acl changes for those mailboxes where acl changes should be forbidden. http://wiki.dovecot.org/ACL says that "a" or "admin" covers "Administration rights to the mailbox". However, removing "a" from owner acl (using "lr") does not help, the user can still

Walkthrough available for bonding, bridging, and VLAN's?
Silvertip257, when you did this CentOS 6/KVM/bonding/bridging, did you ever get all the parts playing together correctlhy? I'm facing a setup with only two NIC's, and need for multiple trunked VLAN access, and bonded pairs, and KVM based bridges to get the VM's with exposed IP addresses. I can get basically any 2 out of the 3 server network components working, binding, VLAN's, or

-R port forwarding and remote host:port info
After the previous small patch submitted to log info about X11 forwarding, I've moved on to trying to log information about remote port forwarding. The remote hostname is showing up as 'localhost'. That's not useful. sshd -ddd shows the following in the midst of an incoming "ssh -R 22220:faron:22 linus". Obviously I want to see the word 'faron' somewhere but

FTS solr info
Are there updated instructions on setting up FTS with solr? I?m in the midst of upgrading my site and the links don?t appear to work or be applicable to current versions of solr. I grabbed 6.3.0 from apache and the instructions are no longer working, e.g., there?s no `solr/conf/schema.xml` file to replace; the `start.jar` has moved, etc. Just wondering if there?s somewhere else I should look, or
