selinux with samba
I'm having problems setting up a samba server with sellinux in centos 5.6 (x64). My samba config works flawlessly when selinux is disabled but fails to access shares when selinux is enabled. Wich command makes it possible to run samba with selinux without disabling it, now I've done: "set sebool -P smbd_disable_trans 1" but doesn't really solve my problem. Thanks in

SElinux and Samba
Ok, so there is not a problem with SElinux and Samba. But it is a pain to set up so it will work right. I finally figured out how to set up SE and Samba so you can be able to write and delete files. I found in one of that man pages "man samba_selinux", you can just disable SE for samba. I am sure there are other ways also but this is what I have found so far. I tried to just

Replacement web server time - catalog CPAN and PEAR installs
I'm looking to replace an OLD Fedora web server with a Centos 7 one. I'm currentlly in the process of documenting what is on the server ready to install the new one. While most things have been done with RPMs, some installs have had to be done via CPAN for Perl and PEAR for PHP. Is there a way of getting a list of everything that has been installed using these tools?

After reboot of web-server accessing website shows "Forbidden", restarting httpd all is fine
Hi. I am stuck with this one and I do not know where and how to search for this problem nor do I know how to fix it. When I reboot one of our servers (CentOS 6.7, selinux target, yum fully updated) the http server loads fine (no erros) but when accessing one of the server's websites it displays "Forbidden", restarting the httpd server (command line) will give full access and all is

Not in Bash, anyway. Huh? I thought it didn't occur in single quotes, but did occur in quotes. Odd, I'm seeing it doesn't, at least in a basic

Windows Vista password dialog keeps coming up
Hi, I have come to my wits end again (lately, it's a very short trip). I have been trying to connect to Samba 3.0.21b but Windows keeps throwing up the logon dialog. I'm using "Map network drive" to try to mount this share. It seems the problem is only on the Windows side since I have tested the connection through the Unix account. Both user id and password work fine.

Learning SELINUX management, help?
OK, so setup CENTOS-5 on a laptop to learn about Xen stuff. KDE Desktop, wanted to print the virt.108.com xen howto. Needed to setup printer first. Open KDE control center, go to printers. Hear error sound, message says "Unable to retrieve the printer list.... Connection to CUPS server failed. ..." So I check to see that cups is running (it is). I check /var/log/messages

SELinux issue
Hey all... not exactly an SELinux veteran, but am trying to work through some issues. Specifically, setting up a simple Samba configuration on a CentOS 5 machine. Determined I needed to do setsebool -P samba_enable_home_dirs 1 In order to get access to home directory shares working correctly. Fine; this is documented in samba_selinux(8). However, I still see the following in my

accessing samba over the internet with dreamweaver
Hello, I've got a friend who publishes his site via dreamweaver. He connects to his site via a samba share and opens and saves files. Now the sites have tempoarily relocated. I'm wanting him to still be able to access his site files with his dreamweaver over the internet. Is this doable with either samba, directly through dreamweaver, or something else? This needs to be as simple

Guide to SELinux
Since the "SELinux - way of the future or good idea but !!!" thread is deep in heated discussion, I decided not to derail to ask a simple question. I found this guide for SELinux: http://www.linux-books.us/centos_0005.php and it looks like it's straight out of RedHat. However, it's dated 2005. Will this be sufficient to help understand a CentOS 5 - or 6 - installation of

locking down ssh when using winbind
Hi all, I'm using samba with winbind which has been integrated with Active Directory. In the smb.conf file, I have template shell = /bin/bash winbind use default domain = yes to allow ssh but I don't want all the domain users to be able to ssh. Is there a way to only allow for example) domain\ssh_group which is an active directory group to be able to ssh into the server? This is my
