Can't login to EA Origin
I'm using wine 1.4-rc4 with a 64 bit wine prefix that's pretty much fresh, and I'm constantly having problems trying to actually login. I'll be able to log in for awhile, and then I'll go through hours of getting either a non-specific error message or something about a problem contacting the origin network. I'm hoping that someone else using origin can either confirm that

Unable to run Origin (EA games)
Hi, i've just installed ubuntu 12.04 on my laptop.
I'm trying to run Origin so i can try to play Mass Effect 3 on ubuntu.
I'm using the latest stable version of wine (1.4), i've downloaded origin from its website and it installs and updates correctly.
There's no way to run it, though. This is the console output:

EA Download Manager
Hi, I'm a n00b, but I was hoping you could help me with EA Download Manager. From what I understand, some have gotten it partially working, and others may have gotten it working completely.
This is what I get:

Purpose of the "ea support" option?
Please can someone clarify the purpose of the "ea support = yes" option in smb.conf?
According to the man page, it's there to allow _clients_ to attempt to store OS/2 style extended attributes. As long as the underlying server filesystem supports EAs, this will work.
However, I've seen a number of references to setting "ea support = yes" when people just want to store

"ea support = yes" and "map acl inherit = yes"
Hi,
I'm running Samba 4.8 servers with Windows ACL enabled shares (following
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_Share_Using_Windows_ACLs).
This manual demands to set
map acl inherit = yes
store dos attributes = yes
and requires extended attribute support from the share file system. So
far, so good. Now I shall upgrade to CentOS 7.7 which brings Samba 4.9
which changes

EA support for AIX 5.3
Jerry, Jeremy,
Whilst fixing bug 2445, I stumbled across NFSv4 ACLs with EA version 2
capability. This is only supported on filesystems that are created JFS2
with Extended Attribute Version 2 support which is part of the NFSv4 ACL
support native to JFS2 in AIX 5.3.
This is new in AIX 5.3 and I'd like to get to work implementing it as an
addition to Linux and IRIX EA support. Are the any

Samba 3.x SVN and OS/2 support.
Hi all Samba OS/2 users. I've just added OS/2 style
extended attribute support into the SAMBA_3_0 subversion
branch code.
This depends on the underlying OS supporting EA's and
(on linux) the filesystem being mounted with the "user_xattr"
mount option and the parameter "ea support = yes" being set
in smb.conf.
Please check out this code and test it - let me know if

EA Bug?
Since we use Samba 3.0.5 on Linux 2.6 with xattr and acl on ext3 I'm not
longer able to set file attributes.
In detail, I'm able fine because they are saved as the EA user.DOSATTRIB at
the file.
But the other part of Samba didn't know that and uses the normal mapping for
reading the attributes resulting in no change of them.
So I'm unable to mark a file e.g. read only.

Help with Battlefield 2 and EADM
Hi,
I purchased BF2: Complete Collection from EA's web site about a year or so ago. I was running Windows and bought it using EA's Download Manager (aka EA Link). I couldn't run the game without that program being active. Now, I proudly, run Linux full time and I can't get the game going because it still depends on EADM. I installed EADM, but it won't run. Is there a work

ocfs2: add security EA support v4
Hi,
I split the previous support security EA patch into four patches for
review. Them besed on joel's xattr-28 branch and tao's patch "Merge
xattr set transaction".
1: move new_inode out of the transaction.
2: add ocfs2_xattr_set_handle.
3: add security xattr APIs
4: add init_security in mknod.
Best regards,
tiger

POSIX ACLs vs. EA security.NTACLs
This might be more inclusive if I said, Linux Permissions vs POSIX ACLs
vs vfs_xattr.
I have recently begun to discover the power and flexibility of using
POSIX ACLs (by mounting my EXT3/4 filesystems with the acl option). This
solved alot of security permissions issues between Samba and Linux
groups of users. As I have delved into this deeper and begun using the
VFS object, vfs_xattr, things

storing SOM epoch in EA
Good day,
some time ago we discussed that it would be very helpful to
store epoch in inode on mds. the perfect solution could be
to store epoch in old inode body, but there is no much space
for this in the body and with DMU we''ll have this problem
again.
given the minimal inode size we use on MDS is 512 bytes, we
can store upto 13 stripes in the body. larger EAs go to a
dedicated block.

PTMP BRI Unable to receive TEI from network in state 2(Assign awaiting TEI) - Asterisk 1.6.2, Latest DAHDI, LibPRI
Hi all,
Last night I went to replace an Asterisk 1.4 + mISDN + b410p box with
Asterisk 1.6.2 and DAHDI BRI - to no avail.
I had two servers so copied network setting etc from the working one,
moved the card across, ran dahdi_genconf etc and it didn't work.
Here's the console output with notices disabled:

Figured out the issue...
After comparing a good vs bad file copy in wireshark for a while, I
have found where it goes wrong. On the good copy I
