Questions still about a uw-imap -> dovecot conversion
The more I read about all of this, the more I'm thinking about moving to
maildir format. My switchover this weekend is full of holes due to the
way user's imap folders were laid out. Some had folders in their home
directory and others might have folders in their /home/mail directory.
Some how, Horde/Imp seemed to keep track of it. Dovecot is not doing so
well.

maildir and /var/spool/mail/$USER
I was told to use dovecot because it was easier than cyrus. I just
upgraded from fc1 to fc3. I am not sure what fc1 used but I think it was
cyrus and it worked perfect out of the box no configurations to do. The
new cyrus-imapd is not so simple so I got dovecot. I see examples saying
to use mbox=~/mail:INBOX=/var/spool/mail/%u but when I try that I
cannot map mail folders that reside

.mailboxlist -> .subscriptions
I've mostly finished a conversion from an old Centos 3 UW-Imap server to
a new Centos 6 dovecot server. I did not copy the old ~/.mailboxlist
file to ~/mail/.subscriptions file, but notice some users have the
latter file now. These are all mbox folders on the old and new server.
I'm getting ready to do the same to another old/new pair of servers and
I'm wondering if there is an

IMP 4
Dear All,
anyone installed IMP4 on Centos 4.1 yet, http://www.horde.org/imp/4.0/
if so what problems did you have, I have a webmail server I am going to
upgrade to Centos 4.1 and Imp 4 from its current centos 3.3
implementation and imp3
This is going to be a labour intensive manual task, and I wondered if
anyone else out there was mad enough to have tried it already....

I'm confused about my namespace parms
Hi,
I'm new to the list and to dovecot. I'm having a strange situation that provides
no errors, so I'm having a little problem diagnosing what's going on.
I've been running a Centos 3 mail server with sendmail for our company for quite
a few years. I finally got approval for new servers this year and put Centos 6.2
on it. I'm sticking with sendmail, but that's not

Bug#324615: new rules for imp4
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Package: logcheck-database
Version: 1.2.41
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch
Hi,
here is one line for the imp4 package and one (I don't have more) line
from the log file. Same as with the horde3 file: I've tested it and CC
this mail to the maintainer.

Non-dovecot user looking for feedback
I've been using UW-IMAPd for neigh on forever (at least since 2001). But, as it's basically stalled, and I'm about to update the hardware that is my mail server, I thought it was time to review existing open-source IMAP servers. Dovecot is the top three in my looking.
The other of the top three candidates, because I know of people who've used it, is Cyrus IMAP. So, I should

Bug#325801: logcheck: new regex to filter imap "Moved xxx bytes of new mail" messages
Package: logcheck
Version: 1.2.41
Severity: wishlist
Hi folks, thanks for your work maintaining logcheck, it works well.
When my users read their mail using imap (usually via squirrelmail,
not sure about other clients) I get a message like this in the log:
Aug 22 21:03:32 phoenix imapd[6551]: Moved 11323 bytes of new mail to /home/winky/mail/mbox from /var/spool/mail/winky host= localhost

web based mail packages for CentOS
Hello Everyone,
I was using OpenGroupware but just hosed my system. Since I'm starting
from scratch I would like to know what everyone's using for web based
mail. I currently implemented cyrus-imapd and postfix which I used
before. I was going to give dovecot a try but it wouldn't start even
though it was supposed to be easier.
I would like to move my postfix to a chroot but have

displaying IMAP folders that are in ~/mail/ at same level as inbox
Hi,
We are moving our current IMAP based system to a new one with dovecot
All I can get about the current IMAP (imapd) system is:
IMAP4rev1 v12.264
dovecot version is:
1.0.rc15
In the existing system I can see IMAP folders that are in ~/mail/ with many mail clients (e.g. Thunderbird, Outlook, Seamonkey and horde). These folders are presented in the client software as being at the same level

has anybody gotten horde working?
Hi,
Horde seems to be quite the problem child. It sorta kinda looks like
session handling is entirely broken.
kronolith will let me in, but not for long. Then I get "invalid token"
and am bounced back to the home screen.
imp won't let me in at all. This behavior is completely broken: I get
a log in screen and a message in /var/log/messages about not being
authorized for IMP (which

Cyrus MailDir to Dovecot mbox
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Anyone out there know of a tool that can convert a Cyrus MailDir format
to Dovecot mbox? I have a user that I need to move over from a mail
server running cyrus using MailDir format. At first I told him to setup
second account with Thunderbird to our mail server and then use
Thunderbird to move the messages over. But he has over 100K messages so

Mail Server
Hi,
I need to setup a new mail server and before I got my feet wet or losing in the configurations jungle, I really need some advice from the gurus here for what the best software to used for the mailserver base on CentOS 4.x setup.
The objective is, the mailserver will be easy to setup, maintained and have some
1. database backend for storing user info ( mysql? )
2. spam and antivirus

Fortunately, it just involves reformatting the data and a little
reconmfiguration of dovcot. If you can find the tool and disk space,
it's well worth doing. Of course, when running a proverbial

Migration questions...
Hi All,
We are soon to migrate our mail server from one piece of hardware to
another and we would like to take this opportunity to optimize things.
As a result, we would like to replace "uw-imapd" and "qpopper" with
"dovecot". The version we will be installing is 1.1.13-2, as this is
what is available through the latest Debian stable backports. We will
also be using

Concerning: in 0.99.10.7 - Maildir: LIST now doesn't skip symlinks
TSS/Dovecot:
I saw the recent change in the ChangeLog about the 'subtraction' of the
listing of symlinks.
The point showed(minus): - Maildir: LIST now doesn't skip symlinks
Does this truly mean the functionality was removed? I'd tried doing symlink'd
maildirs in 99.10.6 w/ no luck and when I saw this change I hoped this was an
addition, as it would be great in lieu of

conditions for the db4/nptl bug?
Hi *,
i run several CentOS4 systems as xen3 domU, and all of them suffer from
the well-known-to-this-list db4/nptl bug:
<https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=91933>
so that i needed to rebuild db4 to make cyrus-imapd work. But a member
of the centos devel ML reported that he has no problem at all running
cyrus-imapd. Our setups are almost identical (dom0=FC6,

Fedora Core 2, dovecot, and Outlook Express
After the aging harddrive in my Redhat 7.2 server died, I decided it
was time to upgrade. I bought a new harddrive and did a fresh install
of Fedora Core 2. I've managed to get www, ssh and sendmail
reconfigured, but I'm having a heck of a time with imap.
I first fooled around with cyrus-imapd, and couldn't make head or tail
of it, so I downloaded a fedore core 1 imapd rpm and

Mail server setup for small ISP
Hi,
I will probably have to design an e-mail (and other components)
infrastructure for a small ISP soon (WISP).
I'm doing some research to determine which components would be best to
offer e-mail services to their client and allow the staff to manage
accounts easily.
I usually use virtual machines a lot for isolation and easy backups and
migration (when a hardware node is
