VarCorr procedure from lme4
Folks
In trying to use lmer for a hierarchical model, I encountered the

It's unlikely I'm trying this the best way, but I'm trying to create a
data structure from elements like

nn = vector("list",nNode)
nn[[1]] = list(Node = "1", Connect.up = c(NULL), Connect.down = c(2,3))
nn[[2]] = list(Node = "2", Connect.up = c(1), Connect.down = c(4,5))

Calling Fortran from R: Issues with dynamic loading of fortran dll
I successfully used .Fortran to load and execute my fortran procedures
under WinXP and 32 bit R. Alas, the same isn't true with my next Windows
7/64 machine, R 2.14.1 (64 bit) and the gnu gfortran (64) compiler
(mingw64 v. 4.6.1). Though I'm able to compile the routines from the
command line using gfortran '...', .Fortran('foo2') results in an error
saying the Fortran

lines with colored segments
Hello all
I'm trying to create a plot similar to a plot.default(..., type='b')
with points plotted connected by lines that leave small gaps between the
end of the line and the point symbol, BUT, with each line segment's
color controlled by a category. plot... draws the line color uniformly
according to the first color in a color sequence, ignoring the
remainder. I can use

col2rgb() function
Nick,
I've also made colors transparent by pasting the hex equivalent of, say,
0.3*256 = 76.9 to the hex color code. e.q. for black it might be
"#0000004d" and the 4d is 77 in hex. That way you don't need to convert
back and forth so much. If col is "#000000" the transparent version is
tcol <- paste0(col,"4d")
This would work in one step on a whole

Question regarding reservoir volume and water level
Water engineer here. The standard approach is to 1) get the storage vs.
elevation data from the designers of the reservoir or, barring that, 2)
get the bathymetry data from USBR or state DWR, or, if available, get
the DEM data from USGS if the survey was done before the reservoir was
built or 3) get a boat+sonar with GPS? +lots of time and survey the
bottom elevation yourself. Put the xyz

Question regarding reservoir volume and water level
Dear all;
Thank you for your reply.
David has explained an interesting method.
David I have DEM file of the region and I have extracted the xyz data from
that.
Also I can extract bathymetry data as xyz file.
I have calculated the storage (volume) of reservoir at the current
elevation.
But the method I have used to calculate the volume is different from your
method. I have crop DEM by the reservoir

Dear All,
we have released version 0.6 of the igraph package today. This is a
major new version, with a lot of new features, and (sadly) it is not
completely compatible with code that was written for the previous
igraph versions. (See "Major new features" below for details.)
I have included below a list of (bigger) changes. Please see the

Ah ok. Sorry. :)
I think that argument "-femit-all-decls" will help you.

[LLVMdev] clang and static functions
Hi Arvind,
you need to use it effectively :
static int add(int a, int b) {
return a+b;
}
int use() {
return add(4,5);
}
==>
; ModuleID = '<stdin>'
target datalayout =
"e-p:32:32:32-i1:8:8-i8:8:8-i16:16:16-i32:32:32-i64:32:64-f32:32:32-f64:32:64-v64:64:64-v128:128:128-a0:0:64-f80:32:32"

[LLVMdev] clang and static functions
Hi,
Sorry for not being specific. I just wanted to know if there is any
way at all to force clang to generate intermediate code for static
functions when they are not being called anywhere inside the current
module. Other compilers seem to generate intermediate code (lcc, for
instance).
Thanks for your reply..Olivier.
Sincerely
