Red Hat Developer Toolset 3 for CentOS6?
Hi all, I could find the 1.1 and 2 repos gently provided by Tru Huynh, but quid of a v3 of the toolset? I've just found that Qt 5.4 requires what's shipped in this v3 (gcc 4.9.1, binutils 2.24) and would prefer installing those from a repo. If not, the sources will rule. Any hint? E17 on CentOS6?
Hello there, does anyone have experience setting up Enlightenment E17 on a CentOS6 system? I know that the RPM's are available from: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/Enlightenment:/Factory/CentOS_CentOS-6/x86_64/ but don't have a single clue about how to switch from my GNOME desktop to it once installed. Yum Issue.. Installing Older Package Version
Hello fellow CentOS'ers- I'm trying to install a package from a not-to-be-named repository (privately operated for some proprietary software). They currently have a package I need but offer multiple versions. However, if I simply 'yum install packagename' it defaults to pulling down the most recent package. I would like to pull down the older version of the package but I'm

Is .packageName part of the official API?
Hi, I've seen that some packages use .packageName internally to infer their own name. Is that officially supported? I could not find it documented anywhere. There's utils::packageName(), which internally looks for .packageName. However, if the latter is not found, it may return NULL whereas an error would be more appropriate if a package name is expected. Using .packageName would give

centos7: looking for libwebpdemux
Hello there, I'm looking for libwebpdemux.so, possibly 0.4.x. I had it installed on my CentOS6, from EPEL, but now on CentOS7, EPEL doesn't provide it at all. Anybody knows about it? Maybe a rpm rebuild would do it? Regards, -- wwp -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... install detecting disk as sdb not sda
I am trying to install 6.2 on a machine. I am using PXE as I have done so a number of times. My hard disk is being detected as sdb and not sda. My kickstart config is wanting it at sda. There are no other disks in the unit. It has and SD slot and an esata although BIOS does not appear to have a disable for either of those devices. Is there anyway to "force" the disk to sda ? or find

Bonding wired and wireless ifaces
Hello all, I'm wondering if there's any interest in trying to bond em1 and eth0 (respectively wired and wireless interfaces here), and if any, how to do it in CentOS6. I've found this, which could possibly help (but I'm failing yet): http://r.outlyer.net/linux:bonding https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBonding Both are dealing w/ ifenslave. bash completion in C7
Hello there, while bash completion was working great to me in CentOS6, since I'm using C7 I spend my day stuck on completion not working the way it should. The bad situations I'm facing are: - it doesn't expand *foo whereas there are *foo-named files in current dir, for instance: # rm *foo will show nothing whereas there's a file barfoo in curdir. - completion takes 10

CentOS6 box fails
Dear All, I used to use CentOS 6 on my desktop without any issues until this morning. Booting stops after the libvirt-guests and certmonger init script. I don't start any guests at boot-time. In rc3.d is only the S99local script after certmongers. Normally, I just suspend this box, so I'm not sure when I rebooted it last time successfully. Does anyone happen to know why booting stops? I

Write to USB pendrives horribly slow
Hello there, since I installed CentOS6 few months ago (kept up-to-date using yum), I'm facing very poor performances when writing to USB pendrives. The hardware: a Dell Latitude E6500 laptop (Intel Core Duo P8600 @2.40Ghz), 4Go RAM + 4Go swap, several USB2 pendrives of various brands (less than old, all formatted as vfat). RHEL/Centos6 handling disks w/4k sectors?
Does anyone know if 4k sectors will be handled better by the kernel in Centos6? I'd like to copy backups to a 750Gb laptop type drive for offsite storage but the best write speed I can get is about 8MB/sec even with dd to the raw disk which shouldn't have an issue with partition alignment. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com
