Unofficial sources (such as Usenet and that torrent site with the old
fashioned sailing ship as its logo) are much more likely to have FLAC
files that were made from lossy audio.
And I vaguely remember reading

Standard location for hotplug-time hdparm invocation
I need to disable the spin-down on an external USB drive because it spins
down spontaneously while in use. The drive forgets the spindown-disable
state across power outage so I need to reissue the hdparm command with each
boot or hotplug. Where should I put the hdparm command to do this?

Change one file, and they all get sent!
Hi,
Just starting out with rsync, and I think I might be missing a
fundamental point of how it works.
Scenario:
I start an rsync daemon on host A, and define a module 'test' on the
rsyncd.conf file. 'test' is essentially my home directory on host A
I then sign on to host B and issue
rsync --progress --recursive --links --stats arthur::test/ /var/tmp/haggis
This copies

sip show peers weirdness
Hey Everyone,
This is not an operational issue, and to my knowledge only effects the
look of the command, but when I issue a "sip reload" then a "sip show
peers" I see all of the actual usernames I have assigned in my sip.conf.
However, five minutes later I reissue the sip show peers and all of the
usernames have disappeared and are replaced by the sip ID. The only way

That was going to be my question as well. According to

Issue with mounted drive
We are having a problem remounting a Windows network share. Our server
is running RHEL4 ES that mounts a Windows network shares as a drive.
The Windows network shares are on Windows 2003 servers. The network
share can be mounted but when the Windows 2003 servers are rebooted,
the mounted drives goe down. I try to reissue the mount commands but
it doesn't work, it sits there and eventually

ZFS raidz1 replacing failing disk
I''m having a serious problem with a customer running a T2000 with ZFS configured as raidz1 with 4 disks, no spare.
The machine is mostly a cyrus imap server and web application server to run the ajax app to email.
Yesterday we had a heavy slow down.
Tomcat runs smoothly, but the imap access is very slow, also through a direct imap client runnining on LAN PCs.
We figured out that the 4th

R CMD check file issues
This problem is likely to be specific to Windows, and particularly Win7.
After a successful build of a package (R CMD build addendum), I immediately
run an R CMD check for the same package.
Not always, but _very_ often, I get the following error:
C:\Users\nisabbe\Documents\@Doctoraat\R>R CMD check addendum

grid error message when resizing graphics window after tcltk loaded
Dear R-devel / Dr. Murrell -
This is similar but ultimately unrelated (I think) to something I posted
about in February. See my original post here:
https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2008-February/048278.html
I start R with the --vanilla option, and run the following code.
## BEGIN SAMPLE R CODE
library(grid)
for(i in seq(0, 1, by = .1)) {
for(j in seq(0, 1, by = .1)) {

I have been struggling to get fixtures to work here with no success.
They just Do Not Work For Me (tm).
I have created a model named Headline with the `generate'' script and
modified the test/fixtumes/headlines.yml as follows
